I Just Saw Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom... · 5:15am Jun 22nd, 2018

...And I am speechless...

Where to even begin. All I can say that, those people who said that this will be the closest the franchise will get to being a full-blown horror film, were pretty right on the money, with all those claustrophobic sequences with the dinosaurs.

A few scenes were genuinely heart-breaking, terrifying, & comedic, I won't tell you what those scenes are, and I'll avoid telling any spoilers...

...save for this...

Review: Perfect Blue (1997) · 7:58pm Oct 10th, 2015

Satoshi Kon's debut feature is a surreal, disturbing and utterly fascinating study of psychological breakdown and catharsis coupled with a biting commentary on the exploitive nature of the television industry, and our own preoccupation with the imagery and nature of fame.

Review: Russian Ark (2002) · 2:48am Feb 21st, 2016

Russian director Alexander Sokurov's spellbinding 93 minute meditation on more then 300 years of Russian history is an elegiac, elegant ode to a world long since lost to the forces of time, made all the more dreamlike and poetic by the fact that it is a single, uninterrupted tracking shot through the massive and labyrinthian world of Saint Petersburg's Hermitage Museum, otherwise known as the Winter Palace.

Review: Mulholland Drive (2001) · 9:49pm Aug 25th, 2015

Mulholland Drive stands as yet another fascinatingly mysterious entry into his eclectic filmography. Part noir, part romance, part psychological thriller and part back stage drama, the film blends and mixes genres into a dreamlike tapestry that defies convention in a way that only David Lynch can.

Review: The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996) · 6:51am Aug 19th, 2015

Since its rather obvious that I have far too much free time on my hands, me and my sister decided to watch Disney's 1996 adaptation of Victor Hugo's epic tragedy The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Because when I think Disney, I think Victor Hugo tragedies. Yeah.

Pittsburgh: 3 Rivers Screenwriters' Conference · 7:42pm May 23rd, 2016

I just got back from the 3 Rivers Screenwriters' Conference in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. It would've been a lot more useful for me to have posted this before the conference, but I didn't find out about the conference until it had already started, so I only had time to pack up and drive down there. I'm on the screenwriting panel at Bronycon (run by GaryOak), so I ought to learn something about screenwriting. :derpytongue2:

Films with Faceless: Hey Arnold The Jungle Movie · 5:46am Nov 25th, 2017

If I were to describe my thoughts on Hey Arnold the Jungle Movie in a single word, I believe the best term would simply be.....Satisfaction. I feel that perfectly articulates my thoughts and probably the thoughts of anyone who sees this movie. Even though anyone will also tell you the movie is flawed, at the end of the day, after 15 years of waiting, I can safely say that I feel content after watching this film.

Very short SPOILER-FREE movie review · 6:57pm Oct 14th, 2017

I went to see My Little Pony: The Movie at the cinema today. I had a good time -- in fact, I enjoyed it more than I was expecting. I do think it really helps to be an existing fan and know the characters well, which may be what's getting to some of the negative general-media reviewers. Not perfect, but I was thoroughly entertained. ★★★★

Review: Allegro Non Troppo (1976) · 10:04pm Jul 4th, 2015

Allegro Non Troppo is Italian animator's Bruno Bozzetto's aberrant parody of Walt Disney's magnum opus Fantasia, and has fallen mostly into obscurity.

And after a viewing, I can see why.

My Review of Captain Marvel (Spoilers) · 3:33am Apr 23rd, 2019

In my opinion, Captain Marvel was... well... it was K. Ironic that Marvel is the weakest MCU Marvel film in a long time, but not excessively bad. It was just K. A solid 5.5/10, would (maybe) see with family again. Overall, anyway. Fun action, fun effects, fun Nick Fury, semi-tolerable story, neat twists, and FUCKING SKRULLS.
