The Imitation Game · 12:40am Jul 24th, 2015

That movie, bro. That ending.
There's very few times when I'd say Ignorance is Bliss, but that movie...
Logical brain kicks in: 'the movie was fairly biased towards the chap, I'm sure computers would be made without him'.
Emotional brain: 'BUT NOT THE WINNING OF WW2, BOI.'

Survey for Definitive Disney Ranking · 8:15pm Jan 5th, 2022

Hi! I wanted to share this survey with you all. In it, participants can rate the 60 Disney animated features by using the star system. The responses will help me compile a DEFINITIVE ranking of the films in the Disney Animated Canon. I created the survey because a lot of people have various films listed as their number one and I want to be as objective as I can. You can use the first link below to access my survey. If you're a SurveyCircle user and would like to earn points to move your

Inside Out: A Thought · 11:10am Aug 30th, 2015

So, today, after many weeks of waiting, Inside Out came out locally. I had prior info that it was a well made film, critically acclaimed and all. Naturally I went in with high expectations.

I was wrongly informed; Inside Out wasn't a well made film.

It's a truly, truly beautiful piece of art. It utterly smashed all of my expectations.

Marvel Cinematic Universe Reviews — Part 1 · 7:31pm Feb 19th, 2017

Okay, so I've been meaning to watch some of these films for a while now, especially because Marvel Studios is now owned by Disney, and I looooove Disney. They're all interconnected and it was a daunting task figuring out where to start and take the plunge. But anyway, I've had quite a bit of free time this weekend, so decided to start watching them. Here are my brief thoughts on the films.

Marvel Cinematic Universe Reviews — Part 2 · 2:43pm Feb 28th, 2017

Part 1 of my reviews is here.

Iron Man 3 (2013)

Good film. Quite a lot of good comedic moments, and finally a decent villain. Pepper kicks butt. And Tony's friendship with Harley is adoreable. Probably the best of the three Iron Man films, but doesn't beat The Avengers for me.

Thor: The Dark World (2013)

My top favorite movie openings. · 2:16pm May 8th, 2019

Hello, folks!

Remember the days when movies had awesome title sequences with a rousing rendition of the film's main theme? Maybe we'd get an overture at the beginning instead of those annoying trailers? Those kinds of things seem to be on the decline these days, and it's a shame, because the title sequence can sometimes be among the best part of the movie. It helps set the tone and gives you an idea of what you're going to get.

Citizen Kane Trailer Edit · 6:58pm Jul 3rd, 2019

This was a trailer that I made as part of my editing course, in which we were supposed to take footage from Orson Welle’s Citizen Kane, and recut it into a trailer of our own design.

So, in case you happen to be interested in comic strips... · 11:31pm Jan 6th, 2016

There are two great documentaries out there that should be seen by anyone who enjoys comics in general, and comic strips in particular.

The first is Stripped, which is about strips in general and the future of the comic strip in todays world. A fate that is quite uncertain given the decline of newspapers.

And my dog just farted. :pinkiesick: The good news is that the GSA and I did all the filming we need for our video. I technically don't have any AP Psych due until Monday. I'm planning on going to a pride event with some friends from the GSA.

10th anniversary of A Serbian Film (NSFW) · 10:15am Jun 11th, 2020

One of the most controversial art films has turned 10 years old. I watched it for the first time in March 2016 on YouTube. Believe it or not, there's a copy of that film circulating on that website.

Banned in Spain, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Norway, Brazil, and South Korea, this graphic film centers around porn with themes of violence, murder, necrophilia, and pedophilia.

Film lessons = Writing lessons · 7:34pm May 3rd, 2020

I was going to do a blog post sometime on the lessons I've learned while writing. (Mostly by smashing my face into them repeatedly until I recognized my mistake, then making a new mistake, then another...) Then by absolute sheer chance, I heard David Sandberg, who was the director on Shazam! and had the unfortunate YouTube tag of @ponysmasher, posted various film-making hints and tricks. Lo and behold, that led me to this:
