So, I went to a live stream of the episodes on YouTube, but the lag combined with my computer's bad performance means the footage I got was sub-par, at best. 
I might have to wait until I have a chance to re-record everything.
In the meantime, here are my thoughts, which I said I wouldn't do, but after what's happened, I kinda have to now.

Continuing with recent trends in tackling more mature subject matter, this week's episode sees Starlight Glimmer suffering from holiday depression.
Fast as lightning, sharp as a sword
I don't know why, but I feel like I want to avoid the season finale. Not because of a fear of the show ending, but (I think) because I know what Starlight Glimmer will be doing, and how badly she'll throw everything off. I don't want to see the perfect world we've seen get screwed up, and I don't want to see characters change from the ones we've seen to something different and possibly unpleasant.
Well, here we go.
G.M. Berrow's first foray into writing for the actual show.
I'm not going to lie: I went into this episode with low expectations. I severely dislike the chapter books and thus had a poor opinion of Berrow's writing abilities going into this.
And frankly, it's not helping AT ALL that Berrow has to follow, well...last week's jaw-dropping episode that could have been the series finale and we'd all have died happy.
Okay that was a weird way to start the ep.

Looks like the Mane Six aren't sleeping well. Must be related to Luna's nightmares!

Well, I decided to see the finale. I'm not sure if it's been officially aired yet or not, or if it's still just available because of it being aired early in another country, but I saw it. Thoughts which include spoilers after the break.

In which the CMCs want PhDs in the ABCs of BFFs.
Their are a lot of things that happened within these 2 episodes of the new season of FiM. I... I don't even know where to begin. The one I'm most interested about is Starlight's magic, in which it is infused with her emotions (her anger to Trixie this time), and can be transfered to other ponies to... control them? 
Go against the pony that Starlight is angry at or any other feeling? I need to watch these episodes again to fully understand what just happened. Great premiere
