At the rate of about 800-1000 words a day. That’s my key to getting stuff done that’s causing you issues; just be sure you put at least a little time in on it this day to have some forward momentum. The two chapters are now up to 24,100 words. I’ll work on it more this weekend, at least around continuing work around the maps and battle graphics I’m making for Feathered Hearts.
Well folks... I apologize for taking so long to get the next TLaTU chapter out, but it's for a good reason.
I've got myself a new job! After deciding it was time to move on from my current job over the July 4 holiday, I posted my resume and got a lot of interest on it. So I interviewed at a new place three weeks ago, got a verbal offer from them two weeks ago and finally passed the background checks this week, getting my formal offer and official start date with it.
Hey folks. Just letting everyone know my writing and release schedule for this month and going forward into the new year. For things like this, I really wish I could tag a post to multiple stories.
Look what got reviewed!!! Unleash the Magic - Midnight Rising was rated 'Recommended' by the Pleasant Commentator and Review Group. To be sure, I don't agree with everything said in here, but given how dicey getting clopfics reviewed can be (especially one like THIS!), I'll accept it quite happily and gratefully:
As of this morning, I've written another 17k words of NN content, 11k of which are contained in two completed chapters. They have already been received very well by my first prereader, though admittedly I wrote what he liked the most as a bit of a gift and thank-you to him. Which is not to say I didn't enjoy it myself!
I have noticed, if that the more clop-heavy a chapter is, the more reads but fewer comments it tends to garner. That's been the pattern across all my stories, pretty much, with the possible exception of Midnight Rising. Regardless, I'm happy with the way this latest chapter turned out, and thank those of you who did comment. Welcome to new readers on both UtM stories as well!
I'm still pecking away at the new Nightmare Night chapter, which is now nearly 10k words and will probably be upwards of 12k when all is said and done. Since I'm not finished with it yet, the Sunday release will probably slip. On the bright side, I have a three-day weekend, so there'll be plenty of time to work on it.
Remember that first year or so you were a brony?
With a major denouement planned, this is going to be a big one; maybe reaching 14k words or more before all is said and done. I've still got a lot of writing to do, and I'd rather not break it up into two chapters if I can at all help it. Only reason I would is if it reaches 16k words, which is kind of my unofficial limit on a single chapter.
A teaser? Sure, a brief one. I promised there would be a new perspective on this war, and I'll reveal it here:
Just because that for all my writing talents, I’m not that good with humor. I once asked the great Denim_Blue if he might be willing to do a gag chapter of Firefly in the style of his Art of Warmance parody play (it was in one of his Gentleman for Mares stories) as an April Fool’s prank, and at the time he had some interest. But in hindsight, he was already on his way out of the fandom at that point, and nothing came of it. Oh, well.
The next entry of Eros is finally nearing completion, as I intend to finish the chapter draft tonight and submit it to prereaders. It contains the start of our favorite group’s viewing of Midway, and I did make sure to include some screen captures of the movie with it.
It’s ready for review, but—stop me if you’ve heard this before—I broke up the chapter, since it was getting too long and a completed version would be upwards of 20,000 words. A bit too big for a clopfic, but fortunately, there was a natural breakpoint at 11k words. So that’s what you’ll be getting.
Chapter will launch when it’s in, either tonight or tomorrow night. Aside from that, the chapter is loaded and ready and has already had its editing passes. As I have a good chunk of the next chapter already written, I’ll continue with the story after. And since you’ve been so patient, and the chapter is now a couple weeks late, I’ll offer up a small (sanitized) teaser, showing another example of the google doc-type comment chains I’m incorporating into the new chapter as a narrative device.
For my last full day in Las Vegas, I sat down for a single playing session... that lasted nearly eleven hours. I played in the $375 deepstack at the new Aria casino resort about a mile south of Harrah's. How did I do? Here's the tournament board when I went out:
As Rise of Firefly nears its end, I'd like to note that yesterday marks the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Midway, the turning point of WWII in the Pacific. Why do I mention this? Because there is going to be an analog to this battle in the next book of the Firefly trilogy. Yes, the much-maligned Royal Navy will get its chance to shine and incur a
It's just started, with the first 500 words down, but I've already worked out battle progression, which is what was giving me fits before. Best guess is it'll be a finished draft around V-day and launch the following weekend. So what to expect?
I'm currently working on a new Call of Duty: Equestrian Warfare chapter for Raven that is the story climax and may well be the story ending. The rewrite has been going off and in for well over a year now and it's time to conclude it. Those of you curious to see how pony strength, weather control and magic would do against modern human weapons and how the Mane 6 would react to an invasion of Ponyville by
After two quick chapter releases. it’s once again a question of momentum--I have it, so let’s continue with it. Hope you folks enjoyed the two chapters in 5 days! Coming attractions? Well, for starters, the gryphons ready their renewed offensive while back in Cloudsdale, Typhoon isn’t done with Thunderbolt yet and engages in negotiations with the Nightborne on behalf of the Princess. If I’m particularly ambitious, It’ll be time for another map as well.
Fallout Equestria: The Angels of Oasis is going to be held back until late evening Wednesday or early Thursday as a result of unfavorable front page conditions. There are three brand new FoE sidefics sitting in the new box, a strong number 1 story and An Intricate Disguise posted some trend-riding RGRE-HiE clopfic. Posting any new story for the next three days is playing Russian Roulette with a Fat Man.
