First, I ran 10k for the first time in two months after laying off that long to let my ankle bursitis subside, trying to allow the area to generally heal up. It appears it worked. To my delight, there was no ankle pain after and I hadn’t even lost much stamina thanks to hitting an elliptical machine twice a week for an hour instead of jogging. With regards to the latter, I finally settled on showing three new perspectives—Giraldi, Tribune Cipio, and his aide, Optio Virgo—and limiting the chapter to those, as any more than that would overwhelm the reader and already had overwhelmed the author.

I see a natural breakpoint developing after all the memory replays are shown, and once again, it would seem best to let them—and the alternate perspective of events/major and minor revelations they show—have the spotlight instead of extending the chapter to include a major trailing M-rated scene.
