Firefly and Feathered Heart Progress Report · 4:44pm Jan 23rd, 2021
The new Firefly chapter is coming along nicely at this point, with 5700 words down and my writing proceeding fluidly--which believe me, does not always happen. It's always nice when it does, though. The working title is Redemption and Retreat, and will open with a section written from the point of view of a pony not heard from yet in this story--Blindside. Depending on how quickly I get it done, including making musical selections and some additional graphics in addition to receiving the usual prereads, we will be aiming for a release sometime later next week.
As for Feathered Heart, I have completed edits on the first two chapters with a third in progress--if you're wondering how extensive my changes are, the second chapter had over 2500 words added to it. I'm still trying to get permission from the mods to get them posted to a new story, but so far the answer is no, unless it's a full rewrite. Which I could do, but would be much more time-consuming and result in major delays of the continuation. Even just editing the story, it's likely to be some months before I get there.
DEL's early writing has some issues. Which is hardly unique to him; I look at stuff I wrote from that time frame and wince at everything I did wrong. He got better as he went along, as did I, but I'm basically giving the story a similar treatment to what I did Turnabout Storm so many years ago--full and complete revamp, including story expansion. But even with changes, I emphasize again that I'll be writing this so that the continuation will work with either the original or edited version of the story.
More updates and possible teasers as more work gets done. Before signing off, I'd also like to publicly recognize the newest member of my prereading team, Silverblade5. Welcome aboard, and thank you for taking up the role.
take as long as you need, it's best you finish it when it's ready on your terms so don't worry
Wooowee. That is a real task you are taking on. Rewriting, let alone picking up an abandoned story and doing so is a brutal task. More stories perish in rewrites than anything else from what I have seen over the years.
Welcome aboard Silverblade! Good to have another pair of eyes on the new writing.
Glad to be here! Thank you for having me along!
