Brown Bird certainly is/was an interesting band that I have only recently discovered. Some more folk music, lightly seasoned with a dash of Americana, a measure of Bluegrass, and a hint of Gypsy. It reminds me a bit of a Bluegrass version of Jason Webley in places. I really love their Bluegrass/Gypsy style of rhythm and beat without the nasty "countrified" twangy nastiness that sneaks into such music...

I never though I would ever say this, but I think I am beginning to come around to (some) kinds of American Country music. Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band certainly puts a big, fat "+" in the "fun to listen to category". A commenter in one of the videos below mentioned that Reverend Peyton is like "the White Stripes and George Thorogood and Hank Williams put together". It is quite apt.

I'm surprised that so many people like this story! It's barely through it's first few chapters and so many people seem to enjoy it. So I have to say, thank you all for taking the time to like it! It makes it worth going the effort to write it. There is definitely more to come, and I will be sure to bring more of the world that exists in this tale as it comes together. Peculiar Prezelmen, how to describe you? They all certainly peculiar, no pun intended; take a sold foundation of folk and compose it for banjo and baritone saxophone + clarinet. Stir in a generous measure of gospel and a large slug of post-punk rock. Season heavily with some playfully dark cabaret and add a sprinkle of steampunk for taste. AlicebanD is a relatively new artist from Essex, England led by singer and composer Alice Walker. She has a very smooth folk style with jaunty piano pieces interspersed with horns. That is about all I can find on her; not much out there on the internet (that I could find). Her music certainly is upbeat and peppy; I dare you to listen to it without tapping your feet!

This one was quite fun. Amaranthe has an interesting melange of powermetal, metalcore, and pop. That probably makes more traditional metal-heads cringe and wince, but I personally think lead singer Elize's bright, clean vocals make an excellent counterpoint to the other lead singer Henrik's more traditional "growly" voice.

Hillbilly Casino is a glorious mix of country rock and rockabilly. Not quite country per se, but you can definitely hear how rockabilly genre influenced "modern" country.
