Hum, been digging Brandon Sanderson and Jim Butcher the last few years, on the more fantasy front.

I love Peter F. Hamilton for sci-fi. He always seems to write about topics that really interest me. And his words are loaded with amazing characterization and depth.

Don't know if anybody heard about this guy, but there's this Canadian author named William Bell. He made all these stories which are absolutely fascinating. Google him. Maybe read one of his books. They're pretty cool.
