To be specific, this is the official thread for the episode "Grannies Gone Wild", not grannies going wild in general. This one's by Gillian M. Berrow. She wrote a buncha chapter books for My Little Pony, Daring Done?, Fluttershy Leans In, and the one where Pinkie Pie knows. Not sure that's too encouraging for the episode, really.

As usual, my descriptions of the episode here are off the cuff, based mostly on the episode names, and may have nothing to do with the episode.

In this one, I figure it'll probably be about Granny Smith and Goldie Delicious going off to visit Las Pegasus on holiday. Maybe they'll win a bunch of money from Flim and Flam playing cards and the two will keep trying to con them and failing throughout the episode.

Canada seems to be doing the two episodes a weekend thing again, but I don't think they are catching up to the US this weekend, at least. Hopefully I'm not wrong on that.

There were some things that bugged me about that episode, but I think a lot were after I watched it rather then while I watched it, and I don't think I gave it a second watching. Sometimes it depends how much the analytical side of my brain kicks in on an episode as well. I probably should rewatch it sometime.

And I'd like to see more Granny Smith and Goldie Delicious. I'm hoping this will be an episode that gives them more character depth, or an episode that is silly enough for me not to care. I could see this being really good or really bad, and I'm hoping for the first.

I thought the episode had a descent premise. And it was nice to see some things drawn in:
- Wonderbolts cameo.
- Cameo of the students at Twilight's school.
- Applejack being overprotective again, though not as bad as in Somepony to Watch Over Me.
- Goldie Delicious. And her cats.
- Cherry Berry flying the balloon.
- Flim and Flam's statues replacing Gladmane's.
- Seeing Applejack haunt Rainbow Dash.
- Seeing Rainbow Dash freak out after losing the older mares.
- Seeing RD as the uncool pony in the group.

But, the episode, though enjoyable, felt rushed. Seems like the writers were trying to pack too much into half an hour. Well, twenty-two minutes without commercials.

Hmm.... I just realized something. Rainbow Dash needs Applejack to cover her classes so she can go to Las Pegasus and ride the Roller Coaster. Applejack agrees as long as RD looks after the grannies. Goldie Delicious said they'd been looking forward to this weekend all year.
