My immune system has given up on me · 7:04am Aug 8th, 2022

ERROR 42034

Oops! :derpytongue2: :twilightsheepish:

An error has occurred.

Error: Immune System Malfunction
Error code: 42034

Unfortunately, Angel.exe has a weak immune system making her more susceptible to bugs and viruses. There have recently been multiple attacks on the immune system of Angel.exe and the immune system has now malfunctioned. Due to the large influx of bugs and viruses into the system and little to no defences against them, Angel.exe is unable to function at maximum capacity. Please wait patiently while the immune system reboots and she will hopefully be back to normal in a few days. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Why and how am I making these sound so serious :rainbowlaugh:

So, yes, as you may have gathered from what is written above, I am not very well at the moment.

It started off with a verruca. *gasp* One of those annoying little warts on my foot. Then, because I wasn't smart enough to do anything about it, there were two verrucas. *GASP* It had spread! :pinkiegasp:

Naturally, my silly brain didn't quite take the hint, and things went downhill from there. I think around two weeks ago - definitely on a Friday, I know that much - I started getting athlete's foot. At this point, I got the message that I wasn't looking after myself properly. About time, Angel.

This is when I significantly lowered the amount of sugar I was eating, so no more chocolate or ultra-processed snack foods - and started using home remedies. I've been using a paste made with bicarbonate of soda and water and maybe something else that treats athlete's foot, soaking my feet in warm water with tea tree oil and salt to attack the verrucas, applying anti-athlete's foot cream and anti-fungal foot powder, and sticking a highly acidic cream of sorts on the verrucas because it's supposed to kill them. I have been doing all of that jazz, every day, since the onset of the athlete's foot.

I did see changes. The verrucas shrank... and then grew; the athlete's foot stopped affecting one of my toes and moved to the next one along. I told myself the home remedies would start working eventually, though. Even if it seemed hopeless, all of this stuff would work at some point, or at least I tried to convince myself that this was true.

Of course, I wasn't expecting the goalposts to be moved again...

On Friday, I noticed my left ear didn't feel quite right. I wasn't in pain, so I shrugged it off and thought it was probably nothing. Bad move.

On Saturday, this feeling of something not being right in that ear was more noticeable. I was working at the pub (somehow my brother and my parents managed to secure some work experience for me) and the music was really loud, so I figured it was just the extra-loud speakers messing with my hearing. Another bad move.

On Sunday, I had more work experience. My ear felt numb, everything sounded different in that ear, and at one point it began to hurt what with the music being so loud and I had to ask a member of the bar staff for a paracetamol. I told my mum that I thought an ear infection was on the way but I wasn't quite sure.

Today, it is Monday, and I am very sure that I have an ear infection. :rainbowlaugh: It hurts, for starters. It feels and sounds like there is liquid inside that ear. My ears are constantly popping, loudly. Since I started writing this blog post, the tinnitus has made its presence known. So my immune system is quite obviously having a hard time, lol.

Don't feel as though you have to write a ton of sympathetic comments. I don't particularly want pity or sympathy right now, because I'm not in too much pain yet. Really, what I'd like to do is laugh at my situation while I'm still relatively pain-free, and also ask any doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other medical professionals who might be reading this if I'm right in assuming that all of this happening *may* be a sign of other health problems that need looking at. It sounds obvious, but I second-guess a lot, and I'm just asking in case my dad rings the doctors this morning and they say there aren't any free appointments for the next three weeks minimum. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Emergency care in the NHS is spot-on and has saved many lives, but other areas of the NHS aren't as good and GP appointments are... A bit hit and miss, so to speak.

Ok, that's the understatement of the week. XD

Anywho, this is what is happening to me right now. My immune system is trying and failing - A for effort, I guess? - and I'm waiting for my dad to get up so he can ring the GP before all of the appointment slots are filled.

Hope the rest of you are doing ok, and if not, I hope things turn around soon.

I will, once I get an appointment. I was on the phone and waiting for nearly half an hour, then my dad got in the way and put the phone down on the doctors because they said they didn't know which face-to-face appointments were available (most things seem to be over the phone now). I rang back, was put on hold for another twenty minutes, got told off for "not ringing in at right o'clock when we open" (excuse me, I did but my dad put the phone down, not
me), asked if there was anything available for today or tomorrow, and got told to ring in again at 2pm today or wait until tomorrow.

ughhhhh

Hope you feeling good, wishing you the best!

Oh dear, that doesn't sound good at all... well, get well soon!

It doesn't sound great, and it probably isn't, but hopefully I'll get a doctor's appointment and then I might have a chance at getting the right treatments so I can recover. I'm not feeling terrible at the moment, so I'll take advantage of that for as long as it lasts. Thank you, Lily.

okok

On the third day: Well shit

That is how I feel :rainbowlaugh:

I actually just got back in from the doctors appointment and I've been prescribed some sort of antibiotic spray to clear up the infection, so hopefully the feeling of not being able to hear properly and having liquid gunk in my ear will be gone soon.

Gosh. I'm very sorry. I hope you'll get the care you need. I know things are pretty complicated at the moment, my brother's waiting on an appointment lately, it's a maze out there.
In any case, hope it goes alright. Hang in there.

Thanks, and nice to know I'm not the only one annoyed with NHS waiting times. I love the NHS, I really do, but I hate the waiting times for appointments and medical treatment that there sometimes are...
