I posted a new flashfic for the Pride-themed Flashfic contest. It's called Pride Included:
It tackles an issue important enough that I am tempted to expand it into a short story at some point.
Now, you're probably wondering why the link on the side is to a different story. The reason: that story is intensely personal to me, especially today. This is because I have reached the critical point where I am now too disabled to work almost all jobs, including my current (for now) dream job of teaching.
A week ago I cleared out my office. This Thursday I meet with a student, and I turn in my institutional data. It may be the last time I visit my University as an employee.
They want me to return as soon as I get better, but due to the progressive nature of whatever this is, I'm empty on hope.
Anyway, I really hope you enjoy Shoot for the Moon if you haven't read it already. I've certainly enjoyed the ride that led to writing it, despite all the awful.
My next story will be my contribution for the Summer Sin Celebration (the M-rated version of the secret santa fic exchange). I'll be posting it to the alternate account, so I'm not sure it counts as "next story". The next one to be posted here will be one of several I'm currently working on, which is hard to predict. They're all really good, though, despite being in development hell for years, so I think you'll like what's on the horizon.
*Hugs*
Just know that we love and support you, Trixie and that we are here for you.

How long was what?

Apologies, I meant how long have you been working there (if that's not too intrusive to ask)?

If you count my time as a student there, about 20 years.
I'm sorry about your health difficulties; good luck, with them, with the writing, and in general.
Life: “Hi! I'm life! Have some of this!”
You: “Owwww.”
Life: “Yep! That sounds about right!”
Okay, I actually hit the submit button on that by accident, but the unedited version feels oddly appropriate anyway…
