I excited to see this.
I know! Right!? Another dragon, about time they put in a dragon to the group of the new generation ponies. And from what's shocking is that Sunny said in the trailer that they haven't seen dragons for centuries, and that a shock but that dragon egg, it's a sight for sore eyes to see another creature in the g5 mlp. Totally brings us nostalgics. And excited to see it when it hits Netflix on the 26.
Here’s what I think happened to the other sapient, non-pony inhabitants of Equestria:
The dragons, griffons, changelings, yaks, hippogriffs, kirins, buffalo, diamond dogs, zebras, and others were beginners to notice the disharmony split the three pony tribes apart and attempted to help repair the damage. Unfortunately, the unicorns, pegasi and earth ponies became so caught up in their paranoia that they turned against the ones they worked so hard to befriend in the past. Eventually, the non-ponies had no choice but to leave the mainland and move to the West, where no pony has ever ventured due to rumors of bad stuff occurring there. Unlike the three pony tribes, the non-ponies took Twilight’s lessons of friendship to heart and built up a new community where all are welcome, every creature is treated as an equal, and almost everything that came to be during Twilight’s time remains unchanged.

So dragons haven't been seen for generations, not much but at least we know the other sentient creatures still exist somewhere hopefully
First Spike the dragon and now a new baby dragon named Sparky Sparkeroni. I also ship rarity and Spike by the way.
This will be rather interesting. Especially with the addition of this new Dragon. Makes me wonder if this Dragon is a descendant of Spike himself. Though that also begs the question: What is a Dragon egg doing near Maretime Bay? And on that note, who would 'leave' a dragon egg in a town of ponies? Unless... it was no coincidence that Sunny and her friends were destined to find that egg in the beginning.

Remind you of any ponies, say the original mane 6, and it’s a wonder where that egg come from, because base on what we saw, it was in Hitch’s locker where his animal crew was when it was shown. At least we know that the other mystical creatures from old equestria are out there somewhere, probably in hiding, and now a dragon is in the new mane 5, they could use a dragon twist if they are the new generations of the heroes from old equestria like the mane 6
Sorry, but NOTHING can replace Spike!

Hey Mario pal, I know we all agree that nothing would replaced spike but let’s give this dragon a chance, it’s just a baby like spike was and it just hatched. And let’s keep it as a sign that the mystical creatures of equestria are still out there, somewhere in equestria in hidding since the magic and the friendship faded when the ponies divided. And this might lead us to more answers on how equestria came to be that way, why drove the creatures to dividing, why did the magic and the friendship faded and to find out what happened to twilight and her friends in the process

Oh, I WILL give this new dragon a chance, make NO mistake.
I wonder what role the dragon will play in the show...?
Will they be an assistant to the ponies like Spike was in G4? Or will this dragon be something more?
As the first dragon seen in Equestria for a long time, there's a chance that the hatching may lead to the discovery of what happened to the dragons.
After all, we still don't know what happened to the other dragons or if they even remember that one of their own was raised by ponies...
