Dan Vs. Fate of the Dark Exile · 2:19am Apr 5th, 2022

The Sith came to Equestria, in secret, to obtain whatever power the world of magic and ponies had for themselves. There wasn't anything more complicated than that in their motives. They established a significant presence on the planet, but remained hidden, striking only where necessary and when the opportunity arose. Their goal was to steal artifacts, power, knowledge and anything else they could use to gain more power.

They failed.

Arteem Surik, the Dark Exile was the de facto leader of the Sith. Having conquered his own universe(or at least his own galaxy), the only real threat to his power, and his only real concern, was a device that could undo it all. A small, round remote droid built by a forgotten ally was in actuality a superweapon known as the Mass Shadow Generator. The Mass Shadow Generator was a small, experimental device capable of turning a planet's gravity in on itself, causing massive destructive gravity distortions. The result was that a planet's gravity became turbulent and amplified, an impossible twisting of invisible forces that tore the planet to pieces, as if crushing and grinding a world within a massive, invisible fist.

Although the Dark Exile hated Malachor, it remained his base of operations and a major source of power and knowledge for him. He used it and other resources to maintain control over the galaxy, dispatching Sith assassins that once hunted him to watch the Republic, silence any opposition to his dark rule. In effect, the Galactic Republic in his universe was a puppet government, and the few Jedi that survived remained in hiding, a historian named Deesra among them. He and the few survivors alone are left to tell the tale of his universe, proving that even in the darkest of places, at least some light still shines.

The Dark Exile came to Equestria in search of the Mass Shadow Generator, a relic that could destroy Malachor 5 and undo his reign. In truth, he didn't really need it, and was taunted by the ghost of his former master, Kreia, into coming to Equestria. Cleo, the Director's resemblance to Darth Traya lured him to her, and his obsession and fear of manipulation led him to once again be manipulated by a new Darth Traya. Although Cleo was not the same Kreia, she was the Equestrian-equivalent of Kreia, making her very dangerous, especially to Arteem Surik.

Ultimately, the Dark Exile, overconfident in his power and ability, was killed by Phoenix Wright. As he is a character controlled by the player(and therefore you, the audience) at one point, it bestowed him with special privileges. He became aware of these privileges, like character shields, because of Equestria's unfinished state, allowing information from the fourth wall to pass more easily between universes. Endowed with the knowledge of his protection, he taunted our heroes and sent his own armies to engage them while he searched for the Mass Shadow Generator.

It was in Twilight's possession. But he would never learn of this fact. Arteem toyed with Kent and Phoenix, unaware that they were both avatars like him. As all three were video game characters, Mortal Kombat rules applied, and when they dueled, the character shields came off.

Phoenix Wright was unable to match Arteem's skill with a blade or his mastery of the Force. Incredibly skilled in combat, Phoenix was disadvantaged in every way, yet chose to engage Arteem alone. Despite being severely outmatched, the lawyer was not severely ill-equipped, and possessed a handgun given to him by Dan before the battle.

Phoenix shot and killed Arteem Surik near the summit of Prosperity Mountain, several miles north of Canterlot. Arteem's body was recovered by several Sith assassins.

Although the Sith remain, Arteem's leadership, or lack thereof, crippled them to the point of dissolution. The current followers of the dark side are hardly Sith in any regard, acting as raiders, pillagers and phantoms, near-mindless as a result of dark side corruption. A few of them may have left the dark side, but many remain, slaves to their own desires for power. As is the way of all Sith; while the Rebel Alliance and Galactic Empire continue an eternal struggle, theirs is not so much a fruitless endeavor, for even Empires and rebels can learn compromise and work together. The Sith, wholly possessed and incapable of achieving any semblance of balance, seemed to be fated to live and die in the shadows.

Most of the remaining dark acolytes were absorbed the Terran Empire for study and experimentation. For his service to Equestria, Phoenix Wright was awarded the Branch of Harmony, the highest honor bestowed in the kingdom and given the position of Minister of Justice. The Dark Exile's universe eventually saw the Republic and Jedi Order restored to it. The Dark Exile and his rule were ultimately forgotten.

And in the end, as the darkness took him, he was nothing.
