Busy at work

So, what's been going on with me? Well, a lot of things. I'm working more hours, I found a community to get involved with- the Galactic Starfighter community in SWTOR, and I'm working on becoming a father. I'm still writing here and there, but I've been so busy I haven't really devoted a lot of time to it.

That, and a very dear friend of mine has needed help. He survived a suicide attempt, and thank God he survived, and I'm planning on going to visit him in California in a couple months. I'm still at my same job but I'm going to be transferring soon, a move which has been a long time in coming. Of course, I won't know for sure any of these changes until they happen. That has been the way my life has been since 2019 when I lost my father. I can't predict the future or make any major plans right now because I lack the resources and support I had when I had dad in my life.

I've been surviving. And I have been enjoying the break from writing Dan Vs. But, there are other important things in my life that I'm trying to get going. I'm trying to improve my health, become a donor parent, among other things. I'm still taking care of my mother and she hasn't made that easy at all, not on me, not on herself and not anyone. I recently had to drive with her to the University of Miami Hospital to see a dermatological pathologist. We got lost twice on the road, arrived late, the doctor was nice enough to see us anyway and then she proceeded to argue with him about his own profession. So, we pretty much wasted six hours I wish I could get back. I played Advance Wars Re: Bootcamp on my Switch because it is my day off and it's good for her to keep driving while she still can.

I haven't been interested in the new versions of MLP. When I came into this fandom, I was more interested in what the fans made than anyone else. That's why I became one; I saw Friendship as Magic as something I could build on, something I could create with rather than simply indulge in. Star Wars and other franchises, I didn't have that option- until I found ways. Then, I attempted to reintegrate my love for other sci-fi franchises back into MLP. The integration process was not the easiest thing, more wish fulfillment than anything else, and I became more focused on making these concepts exist than giving them proper function. I was successful in some areas though, and even brought a few people along for the ride. It's been a learning process, and mistakes were made, but it did provide valuable information. Hits and misses.

When I turned 30, the 2020 pandemic happened. My life became more focused on survival than anything else and COVID-19 changed the world. It's still affected the world, almost like society hasn't caught its breath yet even now. America is still divided, the world is still tumultuous and it feels more dangerous than ever, but hope remains.

I remain mostly the same person I was when I joined this website. There's more I understand about the world but my beliefs, especially political, have not changed. I still value freedom of speech and freedom of expression, especially since I'm using it right now and I firmly believe that the Left is a major threat to it under the guise of buzzwords like equality, diversity, inclusion, tolerance. But there's no point in reiterating what I've already said; if anything, what we need now is more compromise. Instead of rushing to embrace or dismiss neopronouns, maybe everything should be taken in a case-by-case basis. Same with other issues. People want more independence, their rights and their person respected, we should give more if we want to receive.

Life has been happening, I've been very busy but I'm still writing.
