Signal Boost: Night and Dei--Pony Rides · 1:05am Jan 4th, 2022

Just in time for Independence Day Christmas National Spaghetti Day,* Georg has released a Not-A-Contest entry!

EKnight and Dei - Pony Rides
With the opening of the Equestrian embassy comes a new age of interspecies cooperation. Also, pony tourists needing human guides.

It’s got ponies and fireworks and the one tree in Kansas.

*Considering that my Hearth’s Warming Story for this year will be out in February if y’all are lucky, I can’t really make fun of Georg for posting after the holiday passed. [Besides, we have Christmas in July, so why not Independence Day in January?] Also, according to the internet, National Spaghetti Day is a ‘real’ holiday. Sounds to me like something Big Pasta invented to sell more noodles.

For some reason, pony tourists often seem to wind up in Kansas. This story’s through the perspective of their human liaison/assistant/RV driver who has both the best and worst job imaginable. Best ‘cause ponies, worst ‘cause ponies.

Just the same, I think I’d volunteer to watch a pony family on vacation and drive their RV if the opportunity ever arose. Even if they wanted me to go to Kansas.

In all seriousness, though, I’m sure Wamego is lovely, and only improved with ponies in it.

Ok, so it took me six months more to write than I thought. Compared to my normal glacial schedule, that's lightspeed. It's only fair. I plan on being late to my own funeral too.

Wamego is in *Eastern* Kansas. We have hills and trees. My daughter lives in *Western* Kansas. They have... Well, no hills, but they have a tree.

That's impressive... still no mechnomancy.

Well, I'm not sure when or if I'll get to it, given the size of the backlog I've already got, but I'd already put it on a couple of lists; in any case, though, thanks. :)

Some of my stuff falls in that schedule, too . . . I’ve got a two-chapter fic that’s been ‘in progress’ since 2012. Maybe I’ll have it done by its 10-year anniversary.

Is “Eastern Kansas” what y’all call Missouri? :rainbowlaugh:

I actually haven’t been to Kansas in decades. Last time it was the winter, so all I got to see was the one tree (with no leaves) and stubble-fields.

Which is impressive? I’m guessing the pegasus towing a cloud-supported wagon?

It’s a good slice-of-life fic which I think you’ll enjoy. But boy do I know the feel of having too much on my plate at any given time.

Yeeeah. And it's not as if I don't have demands on my time other than ponyfic too, so... sigh. Those probably are some nineteen-thousand-plus horsewords I'd enjoy! And maybe at some point I actually will get to them.

Heh, I’m not even gonna talk about my RiL . . . let’s just say the word count is far longer than the Bible.

Haaah, yeah...
Well, good luck. :D
(Though this story, at least, I have indeed already gotten to, and did enjoy. :))
