Update on my Housing Situation · 1:57am Aug 25th, 2021
Hello, all my wonderful fans, friends, and readers! It's been a few weeks and I haven't announced this anywhere else yet (only other place would be Discord, but I wanted to get this to everyone much as I could at the same time.)
Anyway, the TLDR of it all is, we don't have to move, at least not yet.
My landlord called me yesterday and told me the owner of the building said we could go to month-to-month for awhile as we look for a new place. We would stay on that for about six months, then they would do some kind of 'review' of us?? and then if we still haven't found a place by then, we can decide to go to a 6month lease or back onto a year lease. We of course HOPE we find somewhere by then, but with the housing market right now, who knows? *Shrugs and Sighs*
Anyway, it means we will not only be paying the new rate we would have been paying if we renewed, but also an extra 50 bucks a month as a fee for being just month to month. Which sucks, but it means we will still have a place to live which is what counts, as we continue to look for something!
I also looked up our laws on how much a landlord can raise the rent, to find Utah has NO laws on it. Or at least, their 'law' is pretty much just 'it can't go above a practical rate' which can reallly be left up to interpretation. So, I guess that wasn't the reason they wanted to kick us out. I asked again on the why and the landlord said the owner doesn't legally have to give a reason, or something like that. x.x
So, it isn't the BEST solution, but this means we will no longer be in a pinch to find a place when there really is so very little available close to town for non-students. We can breathe a little easier and not be pushed into just any random new place to live because we have no other choice.
SO, thank you to everyone who has shown your support, prayed your prayers, and just in general helped me feel a little better in these hard times the last few weeks. I appreciate every single last one of you!
Sadly, with such a big rent raise, I don't know if we'll be able to afford nicer internet now, will have to wait and see what happens, but either way, I will try to get back onto a regular schedule for writing and see what happens. I even have TWO new covers for current stories to show you guys, which I will post soon.
Anyway, thanks again for everyone's help and love and support! May you all have a wonderful day!
Good luck to you Queen Chrissy.

Indeed that is very true! Of which I am quite grateful.
Good to hear. Housing insecurity can be a profoundly crappy source of stress.

Sooooo much so! I mean sure we knew we 'could' go back to our parents homes, but after so long gone, not really 'room' for us anymore? I mean my 'room' is still there, with my stuff and my bed, but it has also become a bit of a storage area. x.x So yeah, glad for that at least, to not have to return home.
