Trap Card
[Requirement] If there is a Normal Monster (LIGHT/500 DEF), you can activate this card when your opponent Normal Summons or Special Summons a monster.
[Effect] Change 1 face-up monster you control (Level 8 or higher/LIGHT) to face-up Defense Position. Then, you can destroy 1 face-up monster your opponent controls with the same Type as a Normal Monster in your GY.
To start - in the end, this is a basic 1-for-1 monster destruction Trap. There are dozens of better cards like it - even limiting it to Traps, how many Trap Hole cards are there, or cards like Sakuretsu Armor or Mirror Force? Anyway.
1. You need a Normal monster of a specific Attribute and low DEF to use it. I checked by the way, there's 11 Normal LIGHT monsters with <500 DEF. And only half of them would ever see use in any deck.
2. You must then change one of your monsters to defense position, of a specific Attribute and level. Granted, Level 8 LIGHT is a broad umbrella.
3. Then you can destroy an opponent's monster with the same type as a Normal monster in your Graveyard, placing a tight restriction on what can be destroyed by this. And in many decks it'll be outright useless if the opponent's deck is primarily made up of monster Types you don't have Normal monsters for - which is very, very likely.
Who would ever, ever, EVER, use this?

Power Creep is real. they've covered all their bases so much that they've run out of ideas and are reusing old ones.
Just like how MLP went on for so long that characters had to relearn the same moral in new ways a few times. It's one of the dangers of something going on for as long as YGO has.
At least with Magic, there's a chance the chaff will see play in a Limited format, where the cards you can use for your deck are... well, extremely limited.
But in Yu-Gi-Oh? And this is meant to hype people up for an upcoming sense? Large yikes.

This card is for Rush Duels, not regular ones. Rush Duels have different rules and a very limited card pool.

i'm not super experiance with rush duels that I am with regular Yugioh, but i suspect even in rush duels there's better options. Like OG Trap Hole, for example. It isn't even a legend card like Mirror Force meaning it can run multiple copies.
