    Awaken

It's been a while, but - while I'm not likely to write anything new, sorry! - I'm at a place now where I feel comfortable logging back in and reading (and sometimes commenting!) again. I know this didn't really merit an announcement, but I've seen a few DMs and comments since the last time I was here, and I just wanted to reassure people that if you want to message me or leave comments, they will

I won't be deleting the account, because it's been pointed out to me before that some people somehow found something they liked in my stories and it's not really fair of me to take it away, but I'm done with Fimfiction. Thanks for having me. Bye.

In which I apologise for being a year behind schedule and note a remarkable coincidence

So, the five of you who are still following me will note it's been a while since I published a story, and even longer since I teased my big upcoming project - nearly a year since that blog, in fact! I'm so sorry.

Solving an unexciting mystery · 9:12pm Dec 20th, 2020

So, I'm still unwell, but on the plus side I'm not getting worse, which was the doctor's key decider as to whether I'd potentially be spending Christmas in hospital. Which is... yay?

On to more (less) interesting developments. You may remember last time out, I was trying to figure out why Away - my experimental first-person story about self-isolation, which I'm still proud of but which has never been particularly popular - was suddenly racking up a lot more views and favourites than usual (and even a couple of upvotes!) Well, mystery solved - apparently it was named as one of Equestria Daily's 40 best fanfics to read for OC Day!

I had entirely missed this, I'm sorry to say. Further investigation revealed that back in September, Red/Yellow was picked out as one of the 30 best fanfics to read for Sunset Shimmer Day, and going further back to July, Dragon Lord Ember Skips Work got the nod as one of 35 fanfics to read for Dragon Day!

Obviously these are awesome things to find out (albeit I feel bad for doing so belatedly!), and now not only have we solved the Unexciting Mystery of Away Getting a Small Spike in Views, but I get to bask in feeling warm and fuzzy for a bit, instead of cold and coughy.

Thank you very much, Equestria Daily, and thanks to everyone who's read and enjoyed my stories. I have more to write. Stay tuned. Please remain seated.

There is less than a month left to the year, if that's any help at all.

Right! A comforting thought for many reasons... I'm due back at work at the start of January, which sounds far away but is actually, like, less than a fortnight.

It warms my heart knowing that people still say 'fortnight' and don't mean the cancer.

It's good to know EQD can still drum up readers! :O

Glad you're not getting worse! And I hope you get better soon.

Ah, and congratulations!
