Just your average loser writing fanfiction about post-apocalyptic pastel ponies. Life is good.

CHAPTER 7 PROGRESS:
Stage: First draft
Word Count: 7,816

Turns out a lot can happen between blog updates, huh? :twilightoops:

Howdy, I hope you're doing well! Hard to believe that the last time I took the time to draw up a post here was last October. The state of the world since then has changed a lot, something I'm sure we're all being affected by in some way. Sad to say, it feels like a lot of the pressure and stresses from current events have not been kind to the writing corner of my brain. While behind-the-scenes ideas continue to develop, the actual process of putting words down has been tough. Thankfully, I do have several friends and an excellent Discord community that I've been a part of since 2016 that helps out regularly. While the track's been bumpy, it's still moving ever onward!

In other news, I just recently moved into a new apartment, which I'm hoping can help me focus when writing. There was quite a lot of stress involved with the move, but it's worked out very well thanks to the assistance of friends and family, and now it's feeling pretty cozy. Work is about the same as always; though the pandemic has forced us to take some extra measures, I'm in the medical industry and the work I take part in is considered essential. I do still have lots of time while I work to think on story details, which is actually where many of my best ideas have matured.

There's been some new, fun art in the meantime!

Finally, I thought I'd bring back "the list" for old times' sake:

  • My ABC collab story, Jaws of Steel, got a standalone release! I couldn't wait to give Mikaella a chance to show her skills in her own short adventure, and I plan for it to be one of at least a couple side stories set in Of Shadows' universe. The murder mystery one is still constantly fluttering around my thoughts, and writing it will be a lot of fun! ... Once I figure out how to write a murder mystery :twilightsheepish:
  • There's a Fallout TV show in the works!!! This was a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. I always felt that the series had room to expand and to tell new stories, and it baffled me that Bethesda never hired authors to write novels set in the universe to explore locations that might not be suited well for a game. FoE shows the sort of tone and story they could tell, but a series would work well too. I'm highly interested to see when and where it all takes place, whether it will be one continuous story or an anthology, and adaptation, or what! I think it's worth keeping an eye on.
  • I mentioned it waaay back in the last blog, but I was watching Bethesda and Fallout 76 closely as the Wastelanders update was coming. It released this past April, and hey; it was pretty good! While the game still has a myriad of issues, I migrated to PC and have been enjoying it for the most part. The addition of NPCs has breathed a lot of life into what was a beautiful and detailed but hollow-feeling world, and with the promise of more characters, factions, and quests in the future (as well as the possibility of new lands), I'm maintaining a cautious optimism for the game.
  • Halo came to PC earlier this year and it's excellent. I remember playing El Dewrito back in 2014-2015 and marveling at the idea of Halo 3 on PC, and now it's here in an official capacity. Speaking of H3, I got to play through the campaign for the first time ever with a friend (never owned an Xbox past the original) and it was an absolute blast!
  • A random but amazing mystery video.
  • I guess I haven't mentioned my physical collection of FoE books since June of last year, but I got a copy of the original story! The cover is so gorgeous, and it just feels great to have three amazing stories from this fandom in my library.
  • L is real!

Thank you for reading, thank you for sticking through. Stay strong, stay safe, stay sexy! :moustache:

Glad to here you are doing better. What are the FoE books you have collected so far?

In addition to the original, I have Murky Number 7 and Duck and Cover! MN7 is a behemoth, you could probably knock someone out with it if you threw it at them :derpytongue2:

MN7 is such a emotional behemoth of a story as well that never lets up., Keeping you on the edge of your seat for the whole read through.

Duck and Cover is a great satire of an FoE fic. Though Make Love Not War is a fantastic addition to Atom Smashers story that really gives life to her character.

What do you like out the two books that you have read so far?

I think I'd have to call Murky my favorite protagonist in FoE, the arc he goes through is so well-written and inspiring to read. I've also never wanted to hug a fictional character so badly before, which led to me commissioning art of my Quillwright doing it for me cx

Still haven't finished Duck and Cover yet, but what I've read so far is some of the best humor I've seen in FoE, hehe!

Aww that is so sweet. Totally feel the same way about Murky. Glimmerlight is tied for my favorite with Murky. Glimmerlight is just so awesome. She is smart, kind, and stands by Murky through thick and thin. Glimmerlifht really is one of the greatest BSBFF.
Even got a custom cuddle plush of her made by KLPlushies, and gettinga standing Murky later this year

Glim is such a fun character, and her dynamic with Murky was excellent too! The scene where she learns he's a pegasus still sticks out in my mind as one of the sweetest in the story c:

So happy to see your blog posts again!! Missed getting to read them
