Chapter 8: Coming Very SOON™ · 11:48pm May 22nd, 2021
CHAPTER 8 PROGRESS:
Stage: Final draft
Word Count: 18,007
Surprise! Guess who still still isn't dead c:
As you can see from the word count, progress on the next chapter of OSha has advanced significantly, and is nearly finished! Chayn has done a tremendous amount of work helping me to get this chapter back on track and fleshed out, and Typoglyphic is preparing to pre-read it to provide some valuable feedback.
Now, as close as it is to being a completed unit of a chapter, I've decided to split it into two parts like I did with the previous one. This will benefit everyone by giving you new content as soon as possible, in addition to allowing me some more time to put the finishing touches on the second half. This part of the story is chock-full of worldbuilding and dialogue, and I want to make sure it's all as close to perfect as I can get it!
My goal is to at least reach chapter 10 by the end of the year, which I think is attainable. The sequence of events following this upcoming chapter is pretty well laid out and I'm confident that I can put it out sooner than two years ^^"
Anyway, I hope 2021 has been kind to you so far! Personally, things have been wonderful. Progress on the story aside, my life has been great currently, of which I'm very grateful.
November-May Changelog:
General changes:
-Improvements to spelling and grammar throughout.
-All instances of "St Mare's" have been rewritten as "Saint Mare's" to improve readability.
Chapter 1:
-The name of Stable 56's Overmare has been changed from Cast Die to Die Cast. The original idea behind the name was as a reference to manufacturing, but I realized it could be unintentionally interpreted as a reference to gambling.
Upcoming changes:
-All music in the story is planned to be rewritten with original lyrics. Currently they are simply ponified lyrics to existing songs, but I think that I'm more than capable now of creating something new in those instances.
-The unnamed radio DJ is planned to be removed. The original plans for him and his part in the story have been deprecated, and as such his dialogue will be removed. I hope for this change to coincide with the new lyrics, so the moments in which Quill listens to the radio will be a bit different.
-I would like to make a few improvements to chapter 3 as a whole. The updates won't be anywhere close to the changes I made to the first two chapters (as in, it's not a rewrite), but in particular I would like to extend the time Quill spends in the Ministry of Image hub a bit, providing some more insight into Mulisiana's state before the end of the war.
- I've been re-reading the original Fallout: Equestria via the recently-released audiobook, which is great! The narrator is a very talented voice actress and has firmly established the voices for the main cast. She even does great Mane Six impressions, to boot! There is another version releasing in the near future, featuring music, a male voice actor for the appropriate roles, and sound effects. I very much look forward to hearing it.
- I visited the real life version of New Vegas' Prospector Saloon, which in our world is called the Pioneer Saloon! It was so surreal to have lunch there, to explore Goodsprings, and just soak in the atmosphere of that part of Nevada. Afterwards, a visit was also paid to Jean, Primm, the Bonnie & Clyde Death Car, Nipton, and Searchlight. If you have a spare $3 million, you can actually buy Nipton itself.
Once again, thanks for reading, and mark your calendars with a nonspecific but very near date c;

Thanks for the audiobook version, this one might be my favorite.

Yeah, I think they did a fantastic job! It would be a dream come true for them to narrate Murky next, but I don't expect them to tackle another story, much less one as long as MN7. Alas, it's great to have a professional-grade version of the original story available.
