Got A Question That Only My Most Loyal Readers Will Be Able To Answer! (Mated For Life) · 4:31pm May 24th, 2020
Only the readers who have stuck with the story from the beginning will be able to answer this in detail.
What do you like most about Chrissy and Richard's relationship & Do you think that Richard would have been better off if they had never met, and he had gotten with somepony else??
I ask these for two reasons.
One, I'm curious.
Two, my mate thinks Richard and Chrissy are bad for each other. (Though in his defense, he has yet to read past the escape from Canterlot)
Thank you, love you all!
I think they have a relationship based in loyalty and care, in other words, wether or not they would usually be compatible, they manage to make it work.
Honestly I think they both are a perfect fit for each other since they both have a common interest, hate, and unlike most couples have Mated together on a much personal level. (I'm talking about the feral arc.)

Say he had never met Chrissy in the tavern but instead at a much later date, where perhaps he was with someone else.
Do you think he would still be fated to be with Chrissy, or was it that sole meeting that shaped his future with her?

This. I'd also add that they Trust each other. Every other mare, Celestia, Luna, Twilight, Cadance (kind of), wanted to use and manipulate Richard whereas Chrissy is shown to be the only one to give a damn about him and work with him not forcing him to do stuff. Celestia even admits she only finds him attractive cause he told her 'No'. She may find him attractive but (that doesn't necessarily mean she loves him) she wants to use him for her own ends more.

Oh yeah definitely still would the hive mother would have never come around to them otherwise plus she is the last changeling queen. Which means the changeling race would die out.
No, as I honestly don't see anyone else stepping up to the plate so to speak. Everyone else viewed him as a freak or a monster, so I honestly doubt a pone would ask him out, or if they did to stick around for the social stigma that would follow.
I feel like Chrysalis is the best choice in the story but not a good girlfriend simply due to her manipulative and possessive nature, her original intentions for Richard were not for his well being. It also calls Into question of changelings can truly love, or of she loves him for his love for her (and feeding off it), making a feed back loop.
Also, if Richard asked to stay as human, even if Chrissy stayed true to her word her biology would demand that she convert him, and that would be a ticking time bomb.

Her original intentions were not for his well being. True.
She was manipulative and possessive, is still a bit possessive at times. True.
But has she not overcome those intentions to become someone better?
Discuss.

She has but the point I'm trying to get across is she's a changeling. They feed off emotion, so I'm wondering if she genuinely loves him, or loves him for his emotions, and she fooled herself into believing she loves him. Can changelings love is the important question.
If she can than she's the best choice in this story. If not then the whole thing was built on a foundation of lies.

She can certainly love him, no question there. But if proof is what you desire...
Recall 'Letting Go', the chapter in which Chrissy stops feeding on his love in order to stop her instincts.
Her body begins to eat itself, she grows sick and weary. Her head and instincts are pounding away at her to bite and bite and bite.
But she refuses. Why?
Because even when not feeding on his love, even when you could say with decent certainty that she had pushed it away and therefore had nothing to influence her feelings towards him.
She still loved him.

I think it would be just how... *genuine* it is. Like, how the attraction began to build slowly and even got Chrysalis to abandon her old plans.
That would depend a lot on who that somepony else is, but for the sake of argument let's assume it was Celestia who acted on her growing attraction... I have a feeling not. I feel *this* Celestia wouldn't treat him as an equal partner and she would try to keep the relationship under wraps as she's a "Slave to PR" and she doesn't have the stones to call out her useless caste of nobles on their bullshit.
What i like it is that it started as selfish plan well worked and put a lot of effort it and during that a romance started to build up genuine too until she realized there are better options thatn being manipulative and murdering creature she opened her heart selflesshly brought her ego down to be compatible with him. its true love and richard loving someone for them and not their looks its inspirational also him having to accept new things to move on which their love did.
And no i dont believe they are bad for each other they are great moving through hardships only proves their love and if they sacrificed it for their well being it would all for nothing it would be fake. Also nopony other than crissy could be better for him nopony could help him psychologicaly as crissy did and a know canditate was celestia which would be richards hell pretty much or forced fake heaven is suppose celestia as depicted here is a manipulative weasel with dissorders (pertinacity with richard) who cant take a no for an answear and will ruin peoples life to make her happy. scratch that
To answer your first question: yes, cause one; they have pretty similar backstories, two; they tease each other which brings good laughs, a humorous couple is a good couple (I doubt it's the correct word), and three, which is less important; they hate ponies, especially those that either hate them back or trying to separate them.
Which brings me to the second question: there's very, very few ponies that won't do it for Celestia. I will just list some for you (all) to figure out; Fluttershy, Fleur de Lis, Applejack, Lyra (obvious), Berry Punch, and Saffron Masala.
