Signal Boost: Ponies, Horses, & Mustangs, Oh My! · 12:44am Mar 25th, 2020

Y’all know I’ve got a weak spot for ponies operating motor vehicles. Be they planes, trains, trucks, or automobiles.

Specifically Mustangs.

Source

So of course I was onboard with a story featuring a bunch of obscure ponies driving Mustangs (and other Ford products) through the backwoods of Pennsylvania.

EPonies, Horses, & Mustangs, Oh My!
Ford Mustangs are made to be driven. Lancaster County, Pennsylvania is filled with scenic covered bridges. And little ponies love Mustangs and quaint, picturesque landscapes both. Cruising through the beautiful scenery of Amish country is a given.

In case you hadn’t guessed, this is another entry in my Not-A-Contest. It’s also AlwaysDressesInStyle’s fourth entry for those of you who are keeping count (I think it’s the fourth; I wasn’t keeping count).

He stole homaged the idea of having an explanatory blog post to accompany the story, which is something all y’all ought to steal emulate. However, he did forget to mention one thing which came up during the editing process--all the vehicles that the ponies want actually have horses on their emblems. Broncos did, back in the day, and Pintos did. Also most Mustangs did, except for the boring ones. Ponies don’t want the boring ones.

Source, I think

It was said a horse could not be trained to drive an automobile, but that was many years ago. They can drive automobiles, and trucks, and trains, and airplanes even. And they do it with style.

This image legit never gets old

Ponies love the classics, y’know?

So while many of us are cooped up and can do naught but imagine the freedom of cruising topless down the open roads, why not enjoy a story about ponies doing just that?

Hey, it’s a Mustang

Thank you! :pinkiehappy:

I find it ironic that the lead image is one of the Mustangs with the Blue Oval instead of the Galloping Pony. :pinkiegasp: It's also one of the few images of ponies & Mustangs I haven't seen.

And I'm really digging the last image too - the Ford was named for the jet.

And of course, Continental Drift is always a favorite. I like puns.

Just be careful that your Mustang doesn't smash a Pinto in the rear, because that makes them... er... go off. :twilightblush:

I should stop being a self concious bint that thinks she can't write anymore and go write part two of my own entry already, AlwaysDressesInStyle is doing all the heavy lifting here.

I wonder if Griffins would get it one with Jaguars? :yay:

...also probably don't Google pinto doug winger

What's going on in your neck of the woods, Biscuit? Did your shop have to shut down for awhile?

Perhaps this page might interest you. (Most, if not all, of the links from it are Flash videos.)

Already had it on a list, but thanks. :)

Is there a story for the last image (Pony on a plane)?
:twilightangry2:
Sorry, but someone had to say it.

Most indeed, you should hit the keyboard and get that second story rolling. You can write, you have done it well before and you can do so again without doubt.
Gather thy courage and go forth and slay the foul beast that is Writer’s Block! :pinkiehappy:

Ever since I found out a few flaws in my writing I fear I can't correct them and just, stopped.

Has anyone written a story about Spitfire flying a Spitfire yet?
I need that in my life.

5227985
Just... avoid that artist in general, because eww.

5228334
He was a nice guy. He died in large part due to lack of health insurance and being an American.

5228717
And not ALL of Doug's artwork was... so extreme. He just "specialised" in some specific fetishes.

5228717
5228750
I'm sure. But I've seen enough that his name triggers a squicky reaction for me.

5228766
*Laughs* That's okay. Half the time, I think he drew the really extreme art just to invoke that reaction...

5227875

I think you should too. :pinkiehappy: There's nothing wrong with your writing at all.

For griffins, I'm thinking:

Iso, Saab, or the TVR Griffith.

Thank you!

I know, but it was such a cute image I couldn’t help myself.

And I'm really digging the last image too - the Ford was named for the jet.

Yeah, me too--now I wanna write a story with a pony wrenching on an airplane.

And of course, Continental Drift is always a favorite. I like puns.

I legit think it’s my favorite pony with a car image. I love those cars, and the expression on Twilight’s face. . . .

Yes, you should. <smacks you upside the head with a fish> Flex those writing muscles.

Too late, I did.

Never knew rear-ending a Pinto could be so . . . messy.

What's going on in your neck of the woods, Biscuit? Did your shop have to shut down for awhile?

Most of the state is shut down, except for non-essential jobs, and both of mine are non-essential and can’t be worked remotely, so I’m still at it. Slightly reduced hours at the shop, and I’ve got a good supply of necessities laid in just in case things get worse.

I’ll have a full blog post about it before I go to bed (so an hour or thereabouts)

5228025
Ooh, that’s a lotta links!

5228124

Is there a story for the last image (Pony on a plane)?

Not that I’m aware of. This is the only story I could find with Spitfire and a Spitfire.

Seconded

This story may have that--I haven’t read it, so I don’t know.

No, he definitely drew what he enjoyed sexually. He also consistently refused to sell his artwork. His roommate browbeat him into letting him sell it in collections, but Doug always made it all free access.

I'm fine with furry dickgirls (being one myself in real life), but I've never been super-into hypertrophic genitalia. Still, I can see the appeal.

5228781
Now I'm wondering which way you mean.

5228717
Thanks for the downvote on my eulogy for a guy I knew. Classy! :trollestia:

Well, The Admiral and AlwaysDressesInStyle have said that they don’t see any ‘end of the world’ type issues with your writing and I can’t say I have either in the four or five of your stories I have read. Everyone has their style and techniques, own yours and keep on rolling.
As we used to say in the software trade, it ain’t a bug, it’s an undocumented feature!

That 1975 horse driving a car clip is the funniest shit.

5227985
Out of morbid curiosity I googled that in incognito mode, and I have to say by the standards of furry fetish art, that’s pretty tame.

5229128
Yeah, I've never quite understood the hate Winger generated. I think it's largely because his art is so good and so prolific, that (non-bi) people took issue with most of it featuring giant girl-adjacent whammadoodles. They were frustrated that he didn't draw more cheesecake, despite the fact that he was so prolific that he drew tons of cheesecake.

Or maybe they were disturbed by the feelings his art stirred within them. :trollestia:

There was also an element of furries bothered by the "image" of our fandom that probably contributed to it. That issue has long been a sociopolitical mess for us.

5228845

Now I'm wondering which way you mean.

I’m assuming Spitfire the pony flying a Spitfire the airplane; I’m not sure how it would work the other way.

Unless it’s a crossover with the Planes ‘verse, which would actually be cool.

Kind of like this

That 1975 horse driving a car clip is the funniest shit.

It really is. That guy is either insane or a genius.

5230189 insanity and brilliance aren’t really that separated, as Starlight Glimmer demonstrates.

5230189 insanity and brilliance aren’t too far from each other, as Starlight Glimmer frequently demonstrates.
