These aren’t normal times, but you knew that already. I won’t dwell on that here beyond saying things are as good as could be expected in my family, and I hope they are for you and yours as well.
Now then:
My latest story arrived on the 4th, barely an hour before the contest deadline:
As of this moment viewership has been sparse, to say the least. I’m not terribly surprised, considering I published it in the dead of night, used the dreaded OC tag, etc. Oh well. I knew going in this one wasn’t going to attract a lot of eyeballs.
One thing that always interests me about stories is where they originated. Many moons ago I read a blog post on this very site by somebody I can’t recall (but probably follow) about pack animals living and working in mines deep underground, spending nearly their entire lives there. I said then and there that that was fantastic story fuel, and here we are.
Writing this one was fun. I’m not sure what I’ll be working on next, given the extraordinary circumstances.

I'm just saying, you have this entire story about mining and life underground and you don't include Geology Horse?
In all seriousness, this was a great read, and a real contender in a very strong field. I highly recommend it to anyone reading these comments.
