Many a barrier stands in the way of pony–human relations, but none is so great that it can't be broken by just the right bad idea.

Now, this technically isn’t a not-a-contest entry, since it was originally written for a different contest prior to mine, and it also doesn’t take place on Earth, although it’s close. Just the same, there’s a working pony almost on Earth, so maybe it is close enough. I’ll let all y’all decide.

The story follows Serendipity, a unicorn, and Azahar, a human, and it’s set during the early days of human/pony relations. It’s also set on Earth’s moon (hence the mention that it doesn’t take place on Earth).

One of the details that sets the story apart from lots of other first-contact style Sci-Fi stories is that the two of them aren’t hashing out a peace treaty or trade agreements or whatever else; they’re both lower-level employees who hang out together when they’re off-duty.

I’m also contractually obligated to give you a link to JawJo’s new book. Right meow, the Kindle version is free, so if it sounds like something you’d be interested in, now’s the time to get it.

A bit late, since I haven't been able to get online for the last day and a half (which is thrilling when you're waiting for public feedback, let no one tell you otherwise), but if you feel like editing in spoilers, go for it. I trust your judgement when it comes to keeping them reasonable.

Oh hey, nice to see JawJoe's book being mentioned!

This reminds me that I have to get off my ass and write mine at some point

Heh, I know that feel. It’s a bit nicer now that I can autopublish, but back when I had to wait for the mods. . . .

And done! I think they’re reasonable.

I’m looking forward to reading it. Just got a Kindle for Christmas, and it’s the first thing I put on it.
