Bad news: it turns out all those verbal “hey I guess you’re living with us now”s don’t stand up to the cold hard facts that my credit is shit so if the housemates tried to officially put me on the lease, it would get them evicted, and apparently having four people in the house instead of three has been stressing them out and giving them anxiety, so I’m getting kicked out in the next few days, by the second or third at the latest. So that sucks.
No!
Sorry to hear that. Anything I might be able to do to help?

Find me a cheap place to stay in LA. I’d say make a small monetary donation, but I’ve already had so many people do that and I feel bad about it and there are many people worse off than me. I’m able bodied and I have connections; I’ll be okay.
Oh, shoot. I'm sorry to hear that; good luck.

Glad you'll be okay. :)
Still hope you get there sooner than later, though!
I'm sorry you have to go through that near the new year. I wish you good luck after you leave.
Anxiety? Pretty piss poor excuse.

Jesus housing is expensive out there. $500 for a fucking room? No wonder you're struggling. Maybe it's time to gtfo of that shithole.

Agreed, we need rent control and more low income housing and better rules about people not being allowed to own homes if they just sit empty most of the time, and reform and expansion of section 8 housing, and more development near public transit and a higher minimum wage. The saving grace is that minimum wage is 14.25 an hour in LA, which is probably higher than where you live.
5177631 $13/hour in Chicago. I know raising minimum wage seems like a solution, but it all balances itself out in the end. You can't just raise minimum wage and not expect everything else to rise in price. When it costs more for a business to pay their employees, they charge more for their goods and services... or fire their employees. So now the people who are making 'more' money have to shell out more money for everything they need. I'm sure you see that as the greedy capitalist pigs trying to gouge prices, but in reality, business owners need to earn a living just like everyone else. Also, all the people who were making just above minimum wage would then be making just minimum wage, not just fucking them over, but also further increasing the wage gap. In short, it's a band-aid solution for a hemorrhaging problem.
And actually, rooms for rent are not that much cheaper in Chicago. Houses are generally expensive as well, but apartments aren't too bad, I guess.
