Howdy, folks! First and foremost, as always, Adorable Applejack:

Aaaaaaapppppuuuuuulllllll

Now then, I actually have some shocking news. You might want to sit down, take a deep breath, and find some pearls to clutch but...

I've actually been writing.

Yes, over the past week or two, something happened, and I've actually written around 25K words! Granted, most of it has been an outline with sections of extremely rough passages, but hey, it's something! It's an idea that has actually gotten me somewhat excited about writing again. Now, before you ask, no, I will not be posting anything until it's all finished. I don;t want another Princess Twilight Takes A Walk scenario where I post three chapters then wait two years before I update, and then end up just abandoning it altogether. I have no clue when this story will be finished, but dammit, I'm doing my best to keep up the momentum. To do so, I've been reading through my faves list to try and find inspiration/motivation, and I happened upon a story that I read once, then twice, then thrice, and again just now, and every single time, I loved it.

Do you know Georg? What am I saying?! Of course you do! He's easily one of the best writers on the site. He's written some fantastic stories. Tales of romance, wit, adventure, and intrigue that have entertained us for years. I've extolled his talents many times before, but as I looked through my faves, I found a story that I feel doesn't get as much love as his other works. It's a silly, cute, romantic little story called The Elements of Maternity.

The story is actually quite simple: After Twilight's coronation, she and the girls decide to have a wild night out on the town, and after several rounds of drinks, end up getting themselves all knocked up. Then, they all go into labor on the same day. The story follows this day, and the shenanigans that ensue. It's truly one of Georg's best one-shots. It;s cute, fluffy, and utterly hilarious. I legit found myself laughing uproariously several times throughout the story. Here's one of my favorite passages:

The Princess of the Sun took a moment to pat Rarity on the hoof and offer a whisper of encouragement before straightening up and asking, “How is Princess Twilight progressing?”

An unearthly stream of demonic curses roiled the air and rattled the windows as a mighty voice bellowed, “There is no Twilight Sparkle, there is only the Goddess of Pain and Fertility who labors to bring forth the Destroyer of All Things! Bow before your new overlord as she — Ugggh!” For one brief instant, reality crumbled in upon itself, pi became equal to 3, and the Equestrian Revenue Service seriously considered sending a check to Sweet Apple Acres for overpayment of taxes.

“Sister, hurry! Her power doth chafe against our wards!”

“Luna, don’t be a drama princess,” called back Celestia. “Remember, I was around when you were born.” A second tremor rattled the hospital, making the blood on the walls writhe and coil into symbols of an ancient lost language. The resulting wrinkle in the dimensional folding turned their relatively peaceful delivery room into a barren scarred world running red with lava and cinders before a quick spell from Celestia made the floor tiles and artificial lighting of the crowded birthing room fade back into sight.

“Seems like she’s about ready to crown,” said Celestia contentedly.

I would love to talk more about this story, but I don't want to spoil anything. Suffice to say, it's a riot, and as most things by Georg tend to be, very heartwarming and fuzzy. I cannot recommend it enough. It's about 8K words, so it might take 20-30 minutes out of your day to read it. I implore you, give it a shot.

I won't go so far as to proclaim, "I'm back, baby!" But I will say that something has shook loose, and for the first time in an extremely long time, I am actually... motivated. I want to tell this story. I will do my damnedest to keep working on it, as I feel it's a story worth telling. No clue when that will be, but hey, time will tell.

Never forget that I fucking love you all. Til next we meet, stay safe, stay free, and stay metal! Jake The Army Guy out!

Sounds good. I’ll be watching, Jake. You’re half my follow list.

Elements of Maternity is indeed a great read, and not just for Twilight's eldritch labors.

Great to hear you've found some literary motivation. Looking forward to seeing what comes of it!

God bless you Jake!

Great to hear, dude! Looking forward to it!

And yes, TEoM was a hilarious story. I remember reading it when it first came out.
