First post in 2024 -- Technical Difficulties

Hey, guys! I know its been a while since I made a blogpost, but I've been preoccupied with writing out commissions to keep up with bills. I also recently moved to a new place (dont worry, this one was planned better than the cross-country move back in 2022), and I've been settling nicely. I've been fortunate enough to work on a new series of my own accord titled 'To Nerd A Bird,' but at the

It's my Birthday! (Also, Patreon Updates)

Hey, y'all! As of today, I'm now a whopping thirty-three years old! I know that isn't really a big deal, but it's a good enough excuse to swing by here and explain where I've been.

    Commissions Still Open

Heya guys! I finally finished a good amount of my backlog, so I'm open for commissions at the moment. My rates will be around $20 per thousand words, although it may vary depending on content or number of characters involved. I don't know how many projects I'll be open to accept, but I'll likely delete this blogpost when I have enough to handle. Until then, please feel free to contact me though

Brushed Away: The Series - Hardcover Edition?!? · 2:37am Oct 7th, 2019

That's right! With the finale of MLP looming in, and my own aspirations as a writer becoming more serious, I decided to update my Ko-Fi page to help give my writing goals a serious step in the right direction!

As most of you may know, Brushed Away is basically my Magnum Opus series. It was the story that started it all, and got me the jump-start I needed to become such a big writer for this website. It's gotten me so many followers and friends, and I'm truly proud of what I was able to accomplish by writing out the 650K word series. Hell, Brushed Away was the inspiration for my first tattoo!

So because of that, I decided to implement my Ko-Fi for a project I've been wanting to do for years: Turning my Brushed Away series into physical books to sell! Now, I have absolutely no idea how long a project like this would take to execute out to it's completion (proofreading, printing, acquiring the right materials, shipping, etc.), but it's a project that I REALLY want to do to show my appreciation to all of my followers and fans alike.

With any luck, I can hopefully get something crafted up during 2020 at the latest. So if you're interested in helping me out (or have any advice to help me go in the right direction), then feel free to check out my Official Ko-Fi page, and follow me for any updates on this project. https://ko-fi.com/thevclaw

If you need any help with proofreading/editing the story for the book, I'd be more than happy to help! I've had plenty of experience editing fanfics for physical printings (Sensations, FoE: Murky Number Seven, and FoE: Pink Eyes).

Yay! This is so exciting, and I wish you all the best with the publishing process. As someone who's been through this before, hit me up if you'd like to chat about what I went through. A couple quick tips:

  • Ask your readers if they'd be willing to volunteer to re-read and check for formatting errors
  • Thing about how many pages you have and what extra art/table of contents/etc. pages you want to include. Some publishers have maximum numbers of pages they are able to print. I went through 48HrBooks since "Sensation" came in at over 900.
  • You may need to collect preorder money up front unless you are able to front a few thousand dollars for printing costs.

Hopefully some of that helps, and let me know if you have other questions. Congrats on taking this leap!

I am so excited. I look forward to buying your book. Wish you the best of luck!
I've recently reread part one and there is lots of errors with the grammar but it's still very well written . I would just touch up your writing a bit. Aside from that I cant think of much else. You have my support!

Yeah, I'm very aware that the series needs some thorough touch-ups before publication. Of course, considering how Brushed Away was the first fanfic I ever wrote, I'm really proud of how well-received it still became.

I'd be interested in ordering a set, assuming it doesn't end up being ridiculously expensive.
I'd look at Lulu as a publishing option, one of the fics I ordered recently was from there. They do print to order and handle the shipping. On the customer end, it's just like buying something online, no idea what it's like from the author end though. I did have a little bit of trouble with them that makes me a little hesitant (although customer service was fast and good) but I still think it's a good option to look at.
I'm horrible stuff like pre-reading, but i'm going to give the fic another read at some point relatively soon and i'll let you know if I see anything. I'm open to giving my opinion on book design stuff though. Once you get a firmer timeline and cost estimate, i'm willing to contribute a it.

Sounds awesome. Good luck

One question.
Is there going to be any new art in the hardcover book? I’m still going to buy it either way, I was just curious.

I'm still going about this one step at a time. But I'm hopeful that I can get new artwork.
