Something I've Been Meaning to Post for A While · 5:24am Jul 25th, 2019

So, little known fact, (or widely known if you pay attention to how I gush about Bronypalooza every year in my Bronycon retrospectives) but I love the music this fandom produces. So much so that I've been collecting a playlist of it for years. Since 2011 I've been, across an MP3 player, three smart phones, four laptops, and many, *many* new OS installations on a single desktop tower, been keeping a set of MP3s of my favorite fandom music, starting all the way back with the absolute classic Avast Fluttershy's Ass on to today.

And... I wanted to share it with all of you.

(obligitory direct hyperlink)

I originally compiled this YouTube playlist version because Cynewulf needed to get some GOD DAMN CULTURE hadn't had a broad exposure to some Brony Artists, and I've just... updated it periodically since. Both so Cynewulf could go back periodically, and because I wanted to have a version I could share. So, that's what I'm doing now.

Unfortunately... this version is smaller than my Mp3 version because, well, the Brony Music phenomena is being lost to history. A lot of artists tried to go professional and hide their Old Shame, or just vanished off the face of the earth, or just quit, and their art went with them. Even after I compiled this version several tracks were deleted, blocked, or just vanished. Which... is a damn shame.

So, yeah, I recommend you give it a listen. There's something there for everyone - I have pretty eclectic taste. It's both a personal catalogue of my interests in the fandom, and a historical cross section of the music community. It's something important to me I finally wanted to share, and, well, this stuff has a demonstrable shelf life, so, better to see it now than for it to be gone, unmentioned and forgotten by the sands of time.

Also, if you're going to Bronycon and you like some stuff you hear - check to see if those artists are gonna be at Bronypalooza.

Naturally, I expect you all to be at Black Gryphon's and Odyssey Eurobeat's set.

See you all around.

I hate how they do that.

Delete their stuff because of some bullshit shame or whatnot.

It may seem rude and unkind of me, but I can't help but have a low opinion of people who do that.

For me, as with basically everything, why they did it is just as important as what they did.

Makkon basically shoving all of his pony stuff into a side pocket and then publicly whining that his oldest fans were ungrateful because felt like second class citizens?

Kind of a dick move, not gonna lie.

Not A Clever Pony who went radio silent after saying they were about to undergo a somewhat risky surgery? Hard to fault someone for dying, there.

Still, it's always sad that these things that meant so much to thousands if not tens or hundreds of thousands of people in some cases... disappeared into the aether. It's sad that it's harder for me to share things I loved about this fandom. It's just... sad.

Still, we have what we have, and if you want to take a gander at some old classics and my weirdly wide ranging tastes... you have the link. Go for it.

Seeing how many people decide to DFE and disappear makes me really glad that, right from the beginning, I decided to download all the tracks I liked.

Hm, some of these aren't so much to my taste, but some are, and some I think I heard and forgot long ago. Thanks. :)

You'd probably like some of the stuff there.

Luckily, if you've bought tracks on Bandcamp, you still have access to them even if the artist removes them from their channel. Also, pony.fm seems to have at least some things no longer available on YouTube.

Yeah, it's always irritating when someone deletes their work. There are dozens of artists I knew way back when who's songs I can't find anymore because they deleted them. I remember when PinkiePieSwear deleted his songs and how bummed I was (luckily, he brought them back).

Anyway, thanks for this playlist! I'm glad you have gems like Aviators "Helping Twilight Win the Crown" and the abandoned "Journey of the Spark" song on it.

There's also the The Pony Music Archive, I think.

Ah, thanks.
