So... Scootaloo. (S9E11 spoilers) · 4:17pm Jun 15th, 2019
So, I just watched the latest episode to air in the US, "The Last Crusade", and I have to admit that I have been dreading it like nothing I've ever dreaded before! I've got a lot to explain, but I'll try to keep it as spoiler-free as possible.
So, as my readers may know, I've done something with Scootaloo's family that is a little different from the show. I wasn't able to directly work with Lofty and Holiday due to having no reference for them I could get a hold of. All I knew is that they loved Scoot but weren't always there. Much like Scoot's own parents... But her family situation hasn't always been portrayed in the most positive light, often giving off the feeling that she's fairly lonely. Then Bolt taught her to fly. And those two formed a bond that even I didn't see coming. And, well, she was eventually adopted.
So having her parents come into the picture WRECKED ME.
Seriously, I went into several panic attacks. People kept telling me to "just diverge", and I guess it's a valid option. Just not a valid option for how I write.
I try to keep it as close to the original run as I feasibly can, give or take the few liberties I have included. Respecting what the original writers and performers did. Going too far would just feel wrong for me now that I've gone this far. I was afraid of a lot of things when waiting for this episode, and I think I had some decent justification if you've read up to my most recent Hearth's Warming chapter.
Thankfully, the events of the episode only served to do one thing.
They cemented a concept for a chapter in season 4!
Yes, her parents are going to show up. And yes, the changes Bolt caused with his involvement with this world are going to drastically affect matters.
I know it's a ways off, but I hope you enjoy it!
