Not for Lack of Trying · 4:56am May 20th, 2019

Writing is my hobby. Giving up is my profession.

Hello there. I am not dead yet.

For those of you wondering why Passed On stopped updating after a semi-regular publishing schedule, the answer is I Am Currently Bad At Doing Anything. A while ago something in my mind snapped, and I haven't really been the same since.

Psychogenic whaaa—??

Many aspects of my life have suffered as a result, which of course includes PoniFics. It's hardly ideal, and it's hardly unexpected. That's not to say the story won't be completed, or that there won't be others. While writing little bits at a time over weeks is not my ideal writing style, it seems to be all I'm capable of as of late. Maybe I'll be able to brute-force myself back into my previously practiced prose proliferation, but until that happens I'm going to keep writing however I can, whenever I can.

Still, it's worth mentioning that I'm not nearly as confident in the quality of what I'm writing. Each current chapter of Last Light and Passed On was published shortly after its completion, with a few minutes set aside for cursory editing. Each chapter was written in a single sitting, and I often didn't know where the plot was going until I was done. Back then, I just knew, pretentious as that sounds, that I had something good. I knew that despite playing fast-and-loose with the finer aspects of writing, I could still make something worth reading.

Now, though, whatever part of me that was capable of such focus is just gone. I'll struggle to write 200 words in under an hour, only to look back and groan at the cruddiness of them all. I guess what I'm saying is, don't be surprised if the quality of my future writing doesn't live up to your expectations. Thusfar, I'm certainly not living up to my own.

In the meantime, I'll just keep lying in bed all day and punching myself in the face.

Hopefully I'll have something new published soon. Whether that's the next chapter of Sunset Shimmer vs. Gravity: Vol. II or something decidedly greener, I dunno. I'll get to both eventually, but auntie Scampy is getting slow in her old age of 24.

Until then, go read this fic. And this one. They're both really heckin' good and deserve more attention, and I'll likely blog about them when they're done.

Enjoy SadSunnies, and I'll see y'all next time.

Take all the time you need, you're worth the wait! Don't stress yourself out or beat yourself up over it. Hope you feel better soon! =)

Relax bud nobody is rushing you and you don't have a deadline. fanfiction is a hobby not a job, if you need to take your time to make your art so be it.

Yeah man you’re cool. Also I have read both of those stories as far as they have gotten.

Always best of luck, both in taking care of yourself and in creating whenever you feel you're able. Love ya

(And thanks for the shoutout?!?! Christ, now I've got to do the writing.)

Last Light really hit me hard. It was one of best, realest things I can remember reading on here and was an instant favorite. I look forward to the day Passed On is finished so that I can read it. I'll be right here waiting until then.

Don't worry about us, your life essentials and personal well being is far more important than our entertainment (which is top quality, might I add). I will not pretend I know for certain what you're going through, but know that Uncle Duck (with his 2 extra years of wisdom, ha!) believes that you'll push through it.

Also, +8 points for alliteration. And thank you for the shout-out. I'm actually honored.

Take it easy and take your time!! We'll be here supporting you nonetheless! Do whatever you need to do.
