Why 90s Hip-Hop Will Always, ALWAYS Be Better Than Modern Hip-Hop · 11:58pm Mar 20th, 2019

Y'all kids don't know SHIT about flow.

This shit right here? This shit is MAD flow.

That's why I listen to bands like Green Day and Five Finger Death Punch.

...I have no idea what direction of flow there was supposed to be. It seemed like just mashing random phrases together for no reason. I mean sure, it was impressive that he managed to combine so many of those phrases without repeating, but what direction of flow was there supposed to be?

1700s sea shanties were the best , prove me wrong

5FDP *SUCKS*. Listen to Godsmack, boy.

Das EFX pioneered that style of flow back in the 90s, it's a little played out today and they honestly wore the gimmick out, but the point is they made a memorable jam out of nonsense, which not a lot of artists can manage.

The 90s had a lot of great hip-hop, and some not-so-great, but I'd take even the worst 90s hip-hop over what passes for the genre today.

...There are a few decent hip-hop songs today, imo. Don't expect me to remember them off the top of my head, as I don;t think I've heard one in a couple years.. I was born '98, so I don't see the appeal this song has. Sorry.

A'ight then, try this.

Never listened to Snoop Dogg before either, is this early 2000's? I'm sorry, but I just don't think I can get into this specific branch of hip-hop. I appreciate and respect you trying to introduce me to a type of music you really like, though!

Early 90s/late 80s. This is what was fresh when I was in high school. This is old-school, REAL hip-hop.

And now I sound like an old fogey.

That's decent, but I just want to say that anyone who doesn't listen to metal is a peasant.

However, I'm willing to set that aside so we may join together in a crusade against shitty pop music!

Ugh, I tried to listen to Top 40 radio back in January to get back in the loop on modern music because I've been out of the loop for like a decade. But there is so much autotuned SHIT and so much shitty hip-hop I couldn't hack it for more than a day.

Now rock, rock is alive and well and representing, and I love Godsmack's new sound. I could do without Greta Van Fleet though, yeesh.

But, I do listen to Godsmack. I said "Like", as in the same genre.

Do you have room for a man who enjoys the likes of; Skillet, Disturbed, Green Day, AC/DC, Five Finger Death Punch, Fall Out Boy, Led Zeppelin, and Metalica?

I've legit almost had to punch someone because they said that modern...'rap'... is better than the old stuff.

never have i felt more insulted than hearing that, and i dont even care much for the genre.

And now I sound like an old fogey.

To be fair, ya kinda are.

Okay, but hear me out: Kendrick Lamar.

Make sure to catch the second half of Maad City. You'll like that.

Also, it's not flow if you're not using real words. Anyone, and I mean anyone, can write a retro rap if they're throw in "diggity" "shiggity" or whatever.

5030995
Of course!
aren't most of those metal?

5033931
It's the opposite of a problem; my original comment specified metal as preferable.

5034366
Oh....I feel dumb now.

But glad to join the crusade!

DEUS VULT!

DEUS VULT!

(I was hoping I'd get a Deus Vult, but I didn't want to start it)

Now to write an insanely inspirational speech and see if I can turn it into a copypasta. (ya'll're permitted and encouraged to comment on that document)
