    Hello, how are you?

It's so typical of me to talk about myself, I'm sorry. I hope that you're well.

10 months since I last blogged. Shall I catch you up a little?

It's been a long December and there's reason to believe...

Maybe this year will be better than the last.

I'd say more, but let's not tempt fate, she seems to be having a rough year too.

    Have you voted yet?

This isn't an endorsement, I have no facts and figures to offer you, no scandals to mention. I'll just say that this election may well be the most noteworthy in quite some time for the turnout, and early voting is still happening tomorrow. If you mailed yours in, check to make sure it was received. If it wasn't, there is still time to vote in person and cancel the mail in. No matter how you do

But there's reason to believe...

Hello, it's been a while since I've blogged, sorry about that. Life's been a bit hectic, holidays, and what not. But thankfully that's over for a bit and hopefully things can settle down.

Let's see, writing. I do that thing still. Not as much as I would like, but it still happens. I've had to switch Folly to every two months because I'm producing more slowly, and I refuse to publish without passing it through my normal editors and prereaders. I really appreciate those of you following along with that story, I am close to the end of the chapter I am writing on so I will have a February release.

For any of you who follow my mature prequel of both Green and Folly (A Swan Amongst The Ducklings. I can't link it, but it's not hard to find) After a little more than a year I am working on another chapter for it. Sorry it's taken so long, but the aforementioned long year took its toll on my muse, and she needed some rest.

On the personal front, things are going better for my Mrs. The MRIs turned up a lack of anything life threatening, which unfortunately just means her migraines are genetic. Turns out horrible pain can just run in the family! We have her on medical leave, and we actually did get a bit of backpay for her, although due to paperwork being filled out incorrectly it wasn't made continuous so now we have to get the doctor to redo it. We're in slightly less dire straights, and managed to make it through several months with essentially only my income to draw on. Thank you to everyone who donated to help out, every bit of it helped more than you can possibly know and even well wishes were appreciated.

We're trying new meds for her (one of which is so new apparently even the copay would have been close to 700, but will somehow only cost us 5.00. It apparently blocks certain pain receptors), attempting to get the pain and vertigo down to manageable levels. Hopefully that will work out soon. That being said, if you're still in the giving mood after the holidays, there's always my paypal, and the gofundme I set up for her. We're doing better, but I am still far from turning down a helping hand if anyone can spare it.

Hooray? :(

Well, it's good things are looking up, at least.

Sumatriptan always works for me. Also pricey; I think $10/pill. But still worth it.

Tried it, and it's variants. It killed about 50% of the headache. Problem is they won't dispense more than 9 and she's getting sometimes twice that...

A lot of people can reduce the number of migraines they get by figuring out what things help trigger them. Everybody has certain things that make their migraines worse--bright light, loud noise, cigarette smoke, traveling by car, dark chocolate, ham, MSG, red wine, staying up too late, watching TV. They seem to be additive: If you get exposed to enough of your triggers, you get a migraine.

That's the fun part. We do know a lot of hers. Bright lights, loud noises, bad smells... and she works as a cashier.

Not sure your situation, but is there a lateral move she could be looking for that would at least help things? Call center work might have a quieter enviroment, a smaller or different kind of store might be quieter or help with smells (an electronics store is less likely to sell food or bath products or scented candles, for example), or bank tellering might be something to think about...

Of course, it depends on what's available in your area, and what other things she's looking for. Obviously you need to find medication to get it under control first, but Bad Horse is right that finding a way to make triggers less common would be useful too.

In any case, I wish you guys luck, and I'm glad to know you're still around.

Yeah, that's the eventual plan. But first we have to make it so she's experiencing less of them, then we can narrow it down further. It's just been a very rough year healthwise for her.

Well I hope it all goes well and even better than it is now.

(oh, and happy new year, christmas, and festivities in general!)
