Hey, y'all familiar with Porter Robinson's Shelter?
Yeah. Somehow, it didn't occur to me until just today while listening to it on loop that the music video and Pony-Me have... very similar tropes.
If you haven't seen the music video, here it is.
Geez, I gotta figure out more ways to ramp up my originality game then.

Pretty much.
Nothing you do will be a hundred percent original. Their are so many humans that most ideas have been thought of before or at least partially. Your idea is still mostly original I'd say right? If you go to far for the sake of originality you'll be sacrificing the actual quality for it.

I grew up with CD-ROM games, Windows 95 (And then Windows XP shortly after, considering how it came out roughly a month before I was born), and a complete and utter lack of internet access.
Also, up until last year I only ever had antenna TV, and I hardly have time to go to the movies. Ever.

Don't worry, I still do my research. Just because I've never watched them doesn't mean that I'm completely and utterly clueless about them. And besides, I'm not dealing with space in any way, shape, or form in either one of my stories, so I really don't have to worry about them.
And the only TV show I was really ever hooked on outside of MLP was Thomas & Friends. And a few other assorted PBS kids shows.

It's fine, Nic. Like I said earlier, I'm not too worried about accidentally pulling something from Star Wars or Star Trek simply because my stories, outside of exactly two that I wrote years ago, haven't really dealt much with space as a main focus in any way.
