Due to majority vote, i will not be changin the story and continue with what i have. Thanks for your support, i hope those who voted yes can still enjoy it.
NO
YES
But only if it's okay with you, isn't that bothersome for me.
As for why: my reason won't be good as others but reading about Romans that don't do alavery feels wierd. It was one of there main parts of this society. Heck, they could've went steam powered but didn't because it would ruin the slave trade.
YES
(First suggestion would probably a third require rewrite so you'd probably have to disregard it)
1. It feels like the story is progressing way too quickly and I can't really become attached to any recurring characters so far.
2. (Nitpick) Roman equipment seems inconsistent for time period.
3. Ponies are weak. I understand the story is supposed to be "humanity fuck yeah" but ponies seem to have just gotten their teeth kicked in big time in their first open battle with the Roman.
4. The political spectrum of the story feels nonexistent.
YES
Reason: It would be more historically accurate, though I didn't know people cared about that on this site.
NO
I would like the story to progess and in my opinion this is a detail which has only litte impact on the story itself.

OK I understand #1, but #2 i dont understand. Im going off late imperial romans, with spatha and oval shields. #3, first battle was with ponies who over estimated their ablitiies, under estimated the humans, were untrained militias vs battle hardened soldires, and had mostly earth ponies who couldnt use shields and wore mostly cheaper armor. and #4 what is inconstant? its a monarchy but run by the nobles since the monarch is now just a figurehead cause of reasons youll have to read or i havnt explained properly. probably mentioned it once but not to an extent.

While not historical accurate I'm fine with different attitude your romans have for story and tension purposes

Well I hate to break it to you but this is probably how a first encounter battle would go. The ponies haven't seen war in quite a while where as the Romans where fighting wars every couple of years and have improved their tactics to fight other armies whether they were organized like the royal guard or just a mass of barbarians. Also the ponies are use to loose bands of humans being what they are fighting which don't require many tactics considering how disorganized they would be compared to a Roman legion which was ready for battle at a moment's notice with fully equipped solders. The Roman commanders would be quicker to change their tactics then the ponies seeing that the Romans were always facing new enemies that required new tactics to defeat while the ponies would only use tactics that they would typically used. While I think the Romans would suffer casualties from the pegasai; on the ground a small detachment of Roman forces of this size would be able to defeat a greater size army of levies and Semi-trained troops especially once the Calvary is brought into the mix. The pegasai would quickly become the target of the Romans ranged weaponry.

That's what I was referring to. Considering this place I didn't think people would care about historical accuracy, but apparently people care enough to throw a shitfit about it.
Anyway, I'm changing my vote to NO if it isn't too late. It's your story so you can do what you want with it.
WHATEVER Likely would make a good story elements if you wanted to look into it.
But if you do please make it accurate and not as some modern social justice issue. Equestria has a lot of differences on how slavery is ran than in Rome. Humans being treated as inferior solely due to what they are would not be something which would be accepted easily, and this opinion would not be in the LEAST be helped that there is Tyrannical Sun Queen on the throne.
Life of a slave could be short, cruel and vile but later in the Roman Empire their lot in life became less horrid and children of Slaves were born free, and if they did not have a jerk-face as a Master then they could buy themselves free and likely be released in the will too.
I am sure there would be a lot in this scenario to set blood of any True Roman to boil, specially since they are on the chopping block to become slaves. Also if you choose to walk that path read up about Freedmen, and their descendants.
