Early New Year's resolutions, and Old Year's conclusions

Well, another year's come and gone. How did the resolutions go? Half and half in my case. Managed to partially accomplish what I set out to do, moving from wondering how to do things to figuring out what to do. I believe I've successfully identified the habits that are hampering or even harmful to me, so that's progress.

    Resolutions for the new year?

Summer update 2: What's Sticking to the Wall?

    Quick update on future plans.

Still working on the original stuff, I think I'm down to the last rewrite of what I wanted to do, only question is what to change in terms of details. Art's had some progress, but work responsibilities and sweet, sweet sleeping problems have caused disruptions.

    Summer update: what next?

Honestly? Not sure. I never publish anything that's not complete, so I'm not breaking any promises there. Thing is, I haven't started on anything new yet, and hadn't lined anything up before the previous one.

Oh, Japan... never change. · 9:26am Mar 16th, 2018

Quick little blog to remind everyone that while ponies is a nice little casual drug to get your highs from, us real manly men broaden our horizons and partake of the harder substances: Filly Funtasia trailers, Valt the Wonder Deer teasers, and now... now, it seems, Japan is getting involved.

The pony arms race, or ungulate arms race, is officially on. And how does Japan throw down, you ask?

Well, see for yourself.

Oh, yes. Soak it in, my friends. It's a pony race, done by schoolgirl ponygirls, complete with Naruto running and berserk rages, lesbian under- and overtones, horse feed-based food porn (because Japan), and some idol-based stuff. Not entirely sure what the conventions are for that genre, but the series itself is based on an idol management game, so that's where the less obvious elements will come from, you can research that on yor own if you're interested. If anyone can speak or read Japanese, the series is called Uma Musume Pretty Derby, it has its own website here.

But why post this now, Cracker? This has been known for a while. The video you linked is two years old. You're not the first to point this out. Indeed I am not. I came across it while doing research a while back, specifically on anime ponies or 3D anime, for reasons that should be obvious by now. But that's not the point. So why now?

Well, partly due to the revelations in recent history regarding those other pony and deer series, and partly because of the release date.

First episode is due on April 1st of this year.

Don't be fooled, guys; this is quite real. Some brony or anti-brony sites might use it for material, but... I'm afraid the series will be quite operational by the time they get to it.

So please, pre-empt the April Fools, and share this with your brony friends. Even the waifu crowd. Especially the waifu crowd.

Cracker out.

That... definitely is a thing that will happen. I am at once utterly flabbergasted and not surprised in the least.

Japan, amirite?

Still, what are we calling this arms race? The Hoof War? Ungulate Conflict? The Great Trampling?

...The girls are named after actual racehorses...
Is it too late to pack up and shift fandoms?

Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention that part. The cast is indeed named after existing individual racehorses. So expect a Seabiscuit-chan and a Secretariat-sensei soon.

And hey, you're not bound to a single fandom. Me, I'm mostly present in this one, but I'm in several. You don't need to pack up and shift fandoms...

Just pack some basics and set up a second base

You're gonna tell us when you find a sub version right? This looks too funny to ignore.

So this is an anime? I thought it might be a dating sim with anime cutscenes. Can't be worse that EQG

kissanime.ru already has a spot open for it  Be careful what you click there, though; the ads are a nightmare.

That's the best part! It's an anime tie-in to an idol management game. I think the two are coming out around the same time, but, you know, not really into mobile games, so not really waiting for that. If it gets to Steam and it turns out to be interesting, might get it for cheap... you know, for research purposes.

But yes, there is a game of this, and there is a separate anime of it.

4818231 Yeah, it's decided that my privacy filter is an adblocker and so doesn't work for me anymore :/

There are five or six soundtracks known as "Starting Gates".

Sorry for necroing this blog entry, but may Japan always be its delightfully weird self.
