Sooooo, one of my resolutions this year was to work on more original fiction, and less fanfiction.
And a little over two weeks in, we can see how THAT went! Womp womp.
Still, I've got the day off from work, which would be more fun save for the fact that the temperature outside can be measured in the single digits. And, perhaps inspired by Present Perfect's recent announcement of The Princess's Captain (of which I've only read the first chapter so far, but it's pretty solid), I went back to some vague ideas I dabbled in instead of working on my NaNoWriMo last year (see a pattern yet?) And, well ... now we've got the first chapter of Murder Most Equestrian.
Which, incidentally, is only the SIXTH story on FiMfiction to use the Juniper Montage tag. And there isn't even a Canter Zoom tag, which is tragic! I guess enough bronies are beardy old guys that they don't want to write stories about them. Starswirl gets a tag 'cause he's a wizard. Maybe it's just 'cause she showed up in those weird EQG shorts, but I swear, if Juniper had shown up in like season 2, as a pony, we'd have entire novels written about her.
... so says the guy writing a series of Flashman pastiches featuring Carrot Top (aka Special Agent Golden Harvest) so I guess I shouldn't throw stones.
Anyway! I'm looking forward to writing this one, not just because Flash Sentry (HERO OF EQUESTRIA) is fun to write, but also because, many a year ago, I did a lot of theatre myself. Nothing professional, but I could ham it up with the best of them. So we'll see how much of that makes it onto the page. Or, er, screen. You get the idea.
But yeah, go and give Murder Most Equestrian a read-- I hope you'll enjoy it! Further chapters to come, er ... as I get them written.
Between you and Bookish Delight, it's like we're in the Juniper renaissance. I am entirely okay with this.
I got excited seeing what that story was a sequel to, and now I'm excited from seeing this blog. :D
That's half the fun.

See, I dunno why I'm suddenly seeing this as a competition, and I know I SHOULDN'T, considering you've written nearly twice as much stuff as I have, and a Twempest story is no doubt going to get more views/reviews/featureds than a murder mystery starring a snarky version of a background character nobody likes .... but still!
I mean, I've hammered out like 2k words of pony silliness today and counting, so that's something, right?
