Whew. Hey there! Forgive the silence; I didn't post an update in December because I wanted to save it until I finished the first chapter's rewrite. Now that it's complete, I wanted to let you all know that OSha is still alive and well and has in fact made significant progress since November.
CHAPTER 7 PROGRESS:
OwO what's this?
One reason updates have been taking so long is that I've essentially been writing and planning four chapters at once. The rewrites are less of an undertaking since they're adhering to an existing framework; six and seven are coming along very smoothly. Six will be a stark contrast to the breakneck pace of Five, set in a location that's dripping with atmosphere and history. Seven introduces several new and important characters, and may or may not include the first big plot twist of the story. I am SO excited for the reveal!
But yeah, I'm not going to give any more concrete release dates (unless a chapter is actually ready to publish), but six and seven are both growing at the same pace, so optimally the time between them will be significantly shorter than "normal." I'll be starting the rewrite of Two after this blog post is up, and want to get it done ASAP! Until then, I've decided to make a short excerpt from the Chapter 1 rewrite available for those who wish to read it. Check it out here, if you want! It should give you a brief sample of how this new version will feel.
My New Year's resolution for OSha is to publish no less than five full chapters by the end of the year; with luck, I'll be far beyond Chapter 10 by this time next year. I'm also planning on commissioning some more art for the story... there's one piece in particular that I'd like to release alongside the rewrites.
December Changelog:
General changes:
-Improvements to spelling and grammar throughout.
-The description has been improved some more. Keen eyes will notice that the region's original, historic name has been revealed!
-The Author's Notes sections of each chapter have been cleaned up. Links to the soundtrack, radio playlist, and art gallery are now at the bottom of the description. And while I am always thankful and looking for feedback, I may move my note asking for said feedback into the description as well once the rewrites are complete.
Chapter 5:
-Interstate 40 is now Route 40.
That's all for this update. Here's to 2018!
