Be still, sad heart! and cease repining; Behind the clouds is the sun still shining.

You probably know how this sort of thing goes. There you are, mowing your grass on a day that can't decide whether to shine or drizzle on you, a few years and counting into your non-writing streak. Whatever thoughts you're having are at the expense of your lawnmower picking a fight with every passing tuffet and losing.

    Tyomnaya strana

Just as alicorns descend upon parched wastelands bearing storms and seeds, so too do kindly translators upon my horsewords. Dark Country's received a Russian translation by the kind efforts of

    Stellarum voces

A jolly update for folk who like either fanfic readings or The Motion of the Stars, and a downright rapturous one for folk who like both. My name is R has brought their vocal talent to bear on the story, complete with images and background music to help

    On Brains

A nice breezy dialogue to ease in with:

CARABAS’ COMMON SENSE: So, a hypothetical conservation for you.
CARABAS: Two lines in and we’ve already got fictional discourse nested in the initial fictional discourse. Gosh, I must just love to live dangerously.

Story Recommendation: A Bug on a Stick · 12:00am Jan 2nd, 2018

How does a lovely, Pratchetty, coming-of-age fic featuring the two royal sisters (and one slightly more ichor-ish outsider), bearing a well-built-up world in pre-alicorn times, and sporting the following description sound?

"Celestia was a filly living on an isolated farm with her sister and harboring dreams of greatness. Chrysalis was a black goo poured out from a screaming wound in the walls of reality, with a weak grasp on the appropriate amount of fangs one should have. Friendship was inevitable."

If that tickles any part of your soul, then I wholeheartedly recommend A Bug on a Stick by Orbiting Kettle. The first chapter's already out, it and the following chapters in the pipeline haven't suffered too much in spite of my proofreading, and I'm sure it'll satisfy.

You had me at "Pratchetty."

A recommendation from Carabas?
Golly, this sounds like something I'll have to check out.

It's not like I've already been browsing your favourites or anything...

Six words in? MIchty. I'd aim lower, but I'm not sure how far I could go before my recommends devolve into 'READ THING AARGH'.

Flatterer.

Oh god, a searchable history of things with my endorsement. Ignore everything incriminating please.

I'm not sure how far I could go before my recommends devolve into 'READ THING AARGH'.

Well that's two wasted syllables right there.

Don't forget the three Cs of public speaking:

  • Clear
  • Concise
  • Cwick.

I've tried removing the two extraneous ones, believe me, but I struggle with my inflection. There's only so much I can do with my 'AARGH' that doesn't have people either fleeing or going after me with pitchforks.

Well, between you and FOME both recommending it, I guess I don't have a choice, do I?

Peer pressure, yo.
