Persona 4: A shocking realization (spoilers?) · 1:41am Oct 27th, 2017

Today, the answer to one of the greatest mysteries about the plot of Persona 4 came to me. The realization has rocked me to my core.

Cut for spoilers.

Today, I realized just WHAT the famous "Inaba grilled steak" is--the cheap, plentiful "beef" that seems to have no discernible source.

It's not beef.

It's coming from the huge swarms of stray cats that roam around town.

I am unfathomably stunned.

It wasn't fsteak at all. It was... was...

tsteak. :raritycry:

I can't tell whether you're joking or if there's actually evidence of this in canon.

Do they ever even specifically state that it's beef? I always thought it may have been Shadow meat myself, but this answer is more disturbing...

... Where are you even getting that? They never specify beef because that's the assumption when you say steak.

It's always referred to as just "steak", but NPCs often remark on how strange it is for that to be the local specialty when there aren't any ranches nearby with cattle. They can't imagine where that much cheap meat is coming from, and many speculate that it isn't beef.

After one such conversation, I happened to notice that the herd of stray cats wandering around town gets progressively larger over time. Around September, if you walk past the Dojima house and you watch the background, there are dozens of cats wandering around. That's when it hit me.

...Well, that's kinda fucked up.

Going to make the rainy day bowl challenge rather awkward on any future replays, to say the least. :pinkiesick:

Eh,I'm pretty sure THAT one IS beef. At thirty bucks a bowl it'd damn well better be...

I just spent like, 10 minutes thinking about this. All I can come up with is that the Fox and the Demon "Hare of Inaba" (which in SMT IV is a Food type demon) may be related. So, is this the plot of the next P4 spinoff? Persona 4 Midnight Chef?

So, what you're telling me is Chie's not actually that big on beef, she just loves eating pu*shot*
