The Xbox has landed. · 10:57pm Jul 17th, 2017

Which means that in this case, two to six weeks? Was just under two. And that's coming from HelloWorld as contest administrator, a company which has repeatedly demonstrated its ability to hold back $5 gift card codes for up to three months after the projected send date and once managed to keep most of the MCR thread on March Madness hold for the better part of a year while constantly promising 'just two more weeks...' Over and over.

Given that track record, I wasn't exactly expecting speed. You couldn't have even talked me into a bet on 'competence'. But... here it is.

I've gone through most of the setup process. I haven't connected it to a payment system because Subject Which I'm Not Blogging About Right Now, nor have I started my two-weeks-included Xbox Live trial: I'll save that for when it might matter. I also can't seem to get past Phase One on the avatar screen, but it's not as if I'll be going out in 'public' anyway. But I did install the Blu-Ray player app and verified that it worked, although using the controller as the remote is taking some getting used to -- especially since there are no 'this button does that' instructions.

And yes, my hands are already starting to cramp.

Two details for those of you who were wondering about system specifics:

* It's this model, right down to the Minecraft cover. So I only have 500 GB of storage, the $300 projected retail value is the manufacturer's suggested overstatement, and there isn't a single accessory in the package. I also received exactly one controller.

* However, it is themed. This is very much a Sprite Xbox: both console and controller are dark green, and the former directly says it's from the Summer Sprite Cold Lyrics Series. I don't think this makes it much of a collectible simply because anyone can seemingly order an Xbox with the skin of their choice. But as for pre-designed... the contest has fourteen available. Eventually, there will be thirteen others out there. I just can't really see any collector saying they must complete their museum with that carbonated version!

So the next step is Game #1. I didn't want to actually spend any of my GameStop credit (also won from this contest) until the console was in residence, but... now it's time. As soon as I finish this composition, I'll go pick up the initial disc.

First live streaming gameplay session is hereby scheduled for the 12th of Never.

I got an xboxone as well. Do you have a pic of yours? I modded mine and upgraded it to 1tb from 500gb. I have a bunch of games. I'm a big fan of Gears of war but i still haven't started 4 yet, I'm playing through 1-3 again first.

Damn, I was looking forward to the Minecraft streams.

Hope you enjoy the system though.

Good luck finding games you enjoy playing.

Guessing by that link, did Minecraft come with the system?

Look, you have to expect this kind of thing every now and again. I mean, were you really counting on them to be consistent?

Good news I guess is that it works fine with external hard drives (must be USB 3.0 and greater than 256 GB, because reasons).

What types/genres do you normally like to play?

Minecraft as video game #1?

I'd be a bit concerned about you falling off of the Earth though, but the game itself seems copacetic

Congratulations! And St. Paul said that the age of miracles was over. (Silly Boy):derpytongue2:

I love it when a large corporation in the prize-giving space actually delivers on their promises, even partially, because it leads to delightful man-bites-dog stories on this blog.
