So I go and post a clopfic that has disturbingly low amounts of clop in it. All this plot keeps getting in the way! The more the readers (who are the protagonist) explore, the more they realize there's more at play than which mares they select for fun times.
But, aside that, I'm curious. The story already, at chapter 3, has 12 downvotes! That's pretty fast for me. Not a single negative comment though. Not a hint. A sizable portion of readers are displeased... but don't say why. This is not encouraging or helpful.
The ratio's not awful, mind. I'm scoring a low B right now, but I aim for As! So... see something missing that made you hit the -1? Tell me, be honest. I won't be mad, promise. On the other hoof, liking it? Smack that upvote button on the story!
this can not be right I will have to move this story up on my to read list.
I'm betting that the down-votes are mostly from people who reflexively dislike sex-centric stories. Most of them probably didn't read anything more than the title and maybe the description.

A lot of people on this site auto-downvote clopfics. So long as the upvote/downvote ratio is positive, I wouldn't worry too much.
You put a world-ending calamity as the impetus for clop! Of course we're going to want to deal with the world-ending calamity! What, you thought we'd happily bone pones while Canterlot burns?
I will say that this story made me think of the weirdest solution...

Yes, use magic to increase the character to Godzilla proportions (wow, autocorrect replaces godzilla with Godzilla), gather all the participating mares around in some kind of pool, or something, and then one climax could impregnate all of them at once! It's so brilliantly crazy that it has to work!

See, this is why we shouldn't ignore the feed for two weeks straight, I miss out on new Fics and how start twelve chapters behind the ball!
