No, this has nothing whatsoever to do with politics. Seriously.
This does have to do with polls, though.
Namely, that survey where I asked the readers to help me tag Aporia correctly.
So which is it?
Seriously, I know it’s a difficult question, but one vote out of 22 is cutting it close.
Like I said already, I know how to set both of these tags, but I’d rather not.
You were blatantly trolling us by titling the blog like that and releasing it today, you sly devil.
I voted in your poll, in any case.

Well... yes. A bit. I don't get to vote in this election, and its results affect me pretty strongly anyway, so I think I can be excused for milking it for what innocent fun I can. :)

Oh, don't think I blame you at all; this election has comedic potential eclipsing all others, and I intend to mine it for all it's worth as well.
Ah, I've just realised something. You're using a FPTP voting system for a three choice poll. Not that you could use any other method, but FPTP is objectively the worst voting system you could have if you have more than one choice.
I'm not entirely sure if I said this, but my reasonining for voting "Slice of Life" was because your story appears to be a slice of life for a good ten or so chapters. Even though it does pick up later on, anyone who found your story by searching "adventure" might feel a bit cheated.

As a Brit I unequivocally agree and will now quote you the next time someone reminds me about brexit.

Right now, I'm just asking what people think. :) After this post, Adventure seems to be winning, though...
So, if the story is about "This is not my story" Mary, it would be her adventure in Equestria.
If the story is really about everyone just dealing with this deep thought philosophy... stuff, and there is craziness going on at the same time, then it's a slice of life. Like that one episode; ya know, with that wedding, and those frantic ponies, and a bug-like monster... huh. The writers sure like to recycle imagery.

The way I am thinking of it, it's two stories. Twilight's story and Mary's story. Twilight's story is an adventure on the backdrop of philosophy. Mary's story is philosophy on the backdrop of adventure. Both wouldn't happen without the other, but they are actually rather distinct.
Like I've said, to me this story is still mostly slice of life, with some recent adventure. But if it focuses heavily on the adventure portions of Equestria in future stories, or if Magical Girl Lyra changes the plot significantly, then we will be in adventure territory.
There’s actually little adventure in the story; I’m not sure if the slice of life tag is appropriate but I’m certain the adventure tag isn’t.
Hmm. Well I'd say I would look at the spirit behind the tags. For slice of life I'd say the idea is dealing with normal happens and feelings. Something like a pony having to move. A pony opening a shop. 2 ponies meeting each other after many years apart. All of these things would be something that could just happen in normal life. I don't think your story...quite fits in to my idea of that. I think it generally falls within the broader category of slice of life somewhat. But to me would be closer to an adventure story. Because the events happening in the story seem to have a strong spirit of adventure behind them. While not as strong of a feeling of day to day happenings. So overall I'd say between the two I'd pick adventure.
They're mutex? There are over a thousand grandfathered or in violation, then:
https://www.fimfiction.net/stories?tags[]=g%3Aadventure&tags[]=g%3Aslice_of_life
…and that URL just makes BBcode choke on it.
edit: it's autolinking inside a code tag.

They also say that a moderator can set both tags, but I don’t know how exactly do they do this. Story editor observes two mutually exclusive pairs: Adventure / Slice of Life and Comedy / Sad, but only on frontend level, i.e. the javascript pops up a window if you try to check both elements of a pair simultaneously.
The backend of the site does not double check, so you can just edit the HTML in the editor before saving, and you will have a story with both.
Seeing as how currently Adventure is at 15 votes while Slice of Life is at 11, I would, but I don’t know what kids will call hacking these days. :)
It's not actually a code tag, more like a <pre>...

If it's a tag named [ code ] I feel perfectly fine calling it the code tag that it is failing to be.
1099 with Adventure+SoL, 673 with Sad+Comedy, and…71 with both proscribed tag-pairs, as of this posting…
