The Thirteen Signs
Unlike western astrology which has a twelve month calendar, Celtic astrology utilizes a thirteen month calendar with an extra day used as sort of a passing marker into the next half of the year. There is a lot of debate among scholars on how the Celtic calendar was organized since the Celts didn't leave a lot of written details about the inner workings of their civilization behind.
However, it is believed that Celtic peoples had various guiding forces in their lives which included the Gods, a birthstone, a runic symbol given at birth, a tree that symbolized their connection with the earth, and an animal that guided them through their lives. The Celtic Zodiac is divided based on these guiding forces.

Some people are closer to their moon sign or sun sign, so it gives them their unique personality traits. I've had an astrology chart drawn up for me before. It was crazy accurate.
