Why I Don't Write Here Anymore

I suppose it's been on my mind for a long time, but it never really occurred to me until recently. And because a few of you have been waiting for some projects I promised I'd finished, you deserve to know, as well.

    This exists . . .

This is a thing that exists. This was made with effort, and money.

And Hasbro actually put their name on this.

    . . .

    . . .

    . . .

I'm gonna step away from this one.

My good friend needs some support

You all probably know HudsonHawk, especially if you know me. Even though I've never met the man in person, he's my best friend on this site, on the internet, and probably ever.

    Embarking on a new venture

Recently I discovered a site for content creators called Daisie. It allows people to post their work and ask for collaborators, and it was created by actress Maisie Williams, whom many of you might know as Arya Stark from Game of Thrones.

I think I've chosen my new laptop, what do you think? · 2:24am Oct 13th, 2016

Fast as lightning, sharp as a sword

Accounting for my needs--bigger storage, more memory, webcam, and within my budget--I have it whittled down to two choices:

Bachelorette #1 is Dell Inspiron touchscreen laptop.

And Bachelorette #2 is a Lenovo 110-15ACL.

Both have 8 gigs of memory and a whole terabyte of storage data. Both run Windows 10, have AMD A8-7410 accelerated processors, AMD Radeon graphics, and Bluetooth compatibility.

I don't know what half that shit means, but whatever. :derpyderp2:

The Dell touchscreen has stereo speakers, a webcam and a DVD-CD burner.

The Lenovo has voice command and a headphone jack.

Both look nice, but I can't decide which one to go with. The Lenovo is cheaper, but not quite as high-rated as the Dell. Bear in mind, I'm looking at both of these on Best Buy, so the info I get will be different elsewhere.

What do you guys think? Which one looks better to you? Is there another laptop you suggest? If so, tell me, but keep in mind, I can't pay much more than $500. I don't have a lot.

Much appreciated.

Stay quick, stay sharp, and thanks for reading.

It's really preference at this point. If they both have the same stats, I'd go for which one I'd want. Personally I tend to go with the bigger screen option since I'm visually impaired, but the Dell sounds nice. I've always been a fond of Dells... use to have them back in high school. If you want, hop on Skype and we can chat more :moustache:

4253477 I'd love to, but one of the reasons for the new laptop is that mine has garbage memory. And Skype takes up a lot of memory. :ajsleepy:

Later, perhaps?

4253491
Yeah, sounds good to me haha

Bachelorette number 1, I am asleep, and you are my alarm clock. How would you wake me up? :rainbowlaugh:

They are nearly identical, but two points: 1. Compare screens. 1366x768 isn't desirable compared to 1920x1080, for example. 2. Look into the companies them selves. Has either been installing malicious bloatware? Has either been fined for consumer fraud? So on and so forth.

I'm a fan of hp laptops. Here is one under 500, seems to have everything you need and has imo a much better cpu.
Also, consider external drives if you run out of space. With USB 3.0 it's pretty dang quick.

I use an Acer, they're cheap and easy to use. I say go with that.

Dell works for Me.

This is so bucking out of my league, so go with the first one. It looks cooler.

Best bet is for you to go to a comparison site to get a third party opinion. That or you could do a comparison of them on newegg.

4253530 Wow . . . this one's pretty awesome! I think I found Bachelorette #3! Thanks! :pinkiehappy:

No problem. If you search "best laptop for X dollars you will get a bunch of comparison lists. It really matters on what you will be using it for.

4253640 Just be careful, I bought a touch screen because I use the feture with the stylus they gave me for note taking, but unless you also want a tablet, the touch screen is of no consequence.
Whats your price range? I know of a few good ones but need to know a more exact price range to help.

4253753 I won't be able to afford anything too much more than $500. $600 at absolute most.

4253757 alright I'll check on it. any other specifics? like i7? you want graphics? or speed?

Officially, Dell is usually the better brand. However, in this case, I would really say Lenovo. Unless you really need to use a CD, then I wouldn't go for the one that has an optical drive (where you put the CD). Additionally, since they have the same storage and have similar components, then it would be best to go with the cheaper option for the sake of saving money.

Well, headphone jack should be on both.
I turned off/uninstalled the webcam on my laptop... Don't trust the govt. XD.
If they have the same graphics and cpu, can't say much about the comparison, although apparently an AMD 8-7410 doesn't yet exist, though it's apparently expected from AMD soonish.
Can't talk about graphics if ya just gimme a name, what are specs?
On a side note, my laptop gets like 2.25k processor speed, and I rarely have problems with it, though it is a little slow, my computer runs 3.25 and I have no issues with it,
Voice command seems worthless to me.
RAM (you call it memory) ya really don't need more than 6 gigs on a laptop, but there's no reason not to take more. I run 6 and have no RAM related problems.
Bluetooth compatability is virtually worthless too.
Touchscreen you'll use three times and never again.
CD/DVD-player/burner, I mean. If you're playing music and using CDs it kinda helps, but I get by just fine without one.

My opinion? Compare the two for reliability/durability/lifetime and unless if there's a major difference, get the cheaper one

On a side note, the processor apparently isn't supposed to perform awesome except as a Bitcoin miner ($$$)

I'm going against the grain and say go with Lenovo. I have a Yoga laptop that works like a dream. Dell and I have a bad history together. Unless they've improved in the last 5 years, I'd stay away from them.

Nice stuff, tho id say go lenovo, i do have a spare laptop sitting around ive been meaning to sell as of late, i could give it to you for $450 asus laptop, intel cpu, 16gig of memory, terabyte if storage, fairly decent graphics card if u feel like playing some games. If youre interested just reply

4254135 I appreciate the offer, but I don't want to take a risk in pre-owned stuff that hasn't been refurbished. I've had enough of a problem with store-bought laptops that were supposed to work fresh out the box. :applejackunsure: Thanks anyway, though.

4253781 I don't really need anything fancy. Just something that can take a pretty hefty workload. Several programs at once (as many as 4 or 5), several browser tabs at once (ten to fifteen some days), webcam, and the hard drive and RAM maximum I stated earlier.

That said, the Lenovo - 300-17ISK looks pretty good too. I may just try that one, as well. Thanks! :pinkiehappy:

4254157 alright, before you do how many cores does it have? That's what you need if you want multiple programs at once

4253514 4253978 There was that scandal where Lenovo installed unremovable malware with every new machine, but I would hope they learned their lesson. Also, five years ago, Dell was still publicly traded. I'd hope they got their act together since then, as well. Personally, I use a Dell, but I purposely bought one from, like, 2007, because I've had two Macs and an HP stolen; besides, I just threw 4 GB of RAM, a 240 GB SSD, and Debian 8 in this and called it a day.

4253932 This is basically what I came to say, but it should be pointed out that Bluetooth headsets or headphones, such as the ones lots of people use with their phones, should work at least pretty okay with these computers. Also, depending on the phone manufacturer's level of caring, you can transfer files directly to (and hopefully from) your computer. That said, if one of the world's biggest data mining companies' CEO tapes up his webcam, maybe others should, too. :pinkiecrazy: This Dell Latitude D630 doesn't have a webcam to worry about, thankfully, but I can't find the mic.

Voice command is actually baked into Windows 10, so if they're advertising that, it usually means they've run out of things to talk about. :pinkiecrazy:

4254157 no problem, jus happy to help

4254242 well yeah, I just mean from a day to day standpoint, I have bluetooth, and absolutely never use it.
Also, remove mic ~~ go to device manager, find the mic, uninstall drivers, viola. (Note~ might not be able to reinstall them)

4254157 try discord instead of Skype, it's been much more stable and doesnt take nearly as much memory!

4282842 I use both, but only because I have friends that only use one or the other. I've been using Skype on my phone more often than not lately, so that helps, too.
