State of the Story (Part 3, Another Story Idea, Poll discussion!) · 9:03pm Oct 12th, 2016

Afternoon folks!

First things first, I want to thank everyone who left a comment in the last blog. I don't think I realised it until I saw all of the comments, but I really needed some reassurance that folks were looking forward to what I will write in the future.

Secondly! I was rather surprised that it was almost a three way tie between Lotus Eater, Nightmare, and Directive 2. There was also a respectable number of people who voted for Brightest Spark as well. (For folks that had multiple requests, I took the first two mentioned). So in the interest of being fair, over the next few weeks I'm going to write the first chapter of each of these stories and publish them (though Directive 2 will have to go to another site, because no ponies). Once that first chapter is done, I'll post another blog asking folks again which to pursue first.

Also, LAST NIGHT I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT MY LAST STORY IDEA.

How to Date an Embassador -- (Spoilers for Undertale) (Assumes female Frisk) In the ten years since Frisk led the monsters from the Underground, she has grown into a young woman that has captured the hearts and imaginations of many. Always fast with a smile and a helpful hand, or an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on (or, lets be honest, entirely too eager to give head pats); Frisk has made just as many human friends since her return as she has monster friends.

Now if only one of them could manage to take her on a date without said monster friends trying to 'help'...

Notes: Another silly plot bunny I've had rattling around my head since I beat Undertale. The idea came up after I nearly drowned in the silliness that is Deviant Art's Undertale fandom. Many silly comics were seen and enjoyed, which gave birth to this story: a series of short episodes of perspective boyfriends trying to pick up the Undertale Human with varying degrees of failure success.

Estimated Length: Short

Also, there is one thing I did want to add regarding the previous blog. To be honest, I do have ideas for Lotus Eater in terms of plot planning... but at the moment I'm kinda not feeling much enthusiasm for it. I put it up on the list because I mentioned it several weeks back, and I didn't expect folks to want it so much. Sorry to disappoint but I think I'm going to have to pull that one from the list of possibilities. :(

Anywho, thanks for everyone who's taking the time in helping me decide what to do next!

You need to give us a link to this alt site first, you know. :duck:

My vote's for the Destiny/Undertale ones, then Gate, since those seem the most distant to your current stuff. Change gears and all that to get the creative juices flowing.

Damn. That was the one I intended to vote for. Oh well. In that case I vote for Brightest Spark; it looks to have excellent potential in terms of character development for Twilight.

Yeah, sorry, but I've yet to play Undertale, so im not clicking that bar.
But my vote remain with Brightest Spark. Do know ill read what you post regardless.

If Lotus Eater's pulled back then i guess Brightest Spark is my second choice

I'd still keep my vote for the two I had, Brightest spark, and lotus eater in equal measure. But this is tempting, and really, loving the direction Equestria prevails is doing for things on that. EQP also has fun art in the blogs too, and one of the cutest diamond dogs ive ever seen.

But go with your muse, thats part of what I like at least, when you have the inspiration of something, it shows so much the better for it.

Can I vote for all of them? No? Damn.

I'm actually most interested in the Undertale one, honestly. :)

I'd vote for Gate, and then How to Date an Ambassador.

Don't be too hard on yourself. I'm sure Lotus Eater has a lot of great beats but it might not be the right story for them. I've laid out several stories / ideas that seemed great at the time but, after examining them closer, realized some of the individual elements didn't belong. It's frustrating, but better to get those ideas out in the first place than let them sit idle on the drawing board.

Who knows? Maybe you'll find ways to bring those ideas into your future work. Best of luck regardless.

I honestly love all your ideas, but the one I definitely hope you'll focus on is Nightmare. Celestia was a fantastic story about how Solaria gained a heart, and I'd really like to see more from that era.

Don't beat yourself up over it if Lotus Eater doesn't pan out. I've had the same happen to several ideas of mine that just couldn't get past planning stages. Still, I hope this means that you'll do the GATE crossover. God I love that fucking series. If only it updated more often :raritydespair:

More silly Undertale stuff for me to read? Yes please.

I swear to god that made me laugh my ass off.
The length of the blog word setting has amazingly funny results sometimes.

Well, if Lotus Eater is off the table, my second choice is How to Date an Embassador since Undertale is great. As for the others, I never got around to reading Celestia so I'm obviously not going to read it's sequel. The gate crossover on the other hand does sound interesting, but I'm not familiar with the series so I'm not sure if I'm going to wind up putting in the extra effort to track it on another site. I'll probably at least give it a shot, but I can't make any promises.

Oh, should've probably read this one before posting on the last one just now, lol. Welp, even though it kind'a sounded like it's already lost out, I'll still vote for Brightest Spark.

I'm planning on writing the first chapter of each of the stories in question, then having folks vote again to see if anyone's opinions change. Brightest Spark might still shine (eventually!)

I vote for Brightest Spark and Nightmare, but they are all good.

I think I'll stick with my previous choices for now.

Still gonna keep with "Directive two." I've been trying to look for a Gate crossover that has more substance than the usual crossovers that read like trashy propaganda. Not even humorous trashy propaganda where I can at least laugh at it. Take those away and I can pretty much count on my hand how many decent fics there are on this topic.

If Lotus Eater is out of question I think I'm still gonna stick to Nightmare, but that might change after seeing first chapters of each story. Definitely looking forward to this, keep ut the great writing :pinkiehappy:

This one also sounds interesting, but I still vote for Nightmare.

I vote for Nightmare.

Hmmm.

Embassador sounds like a nice story to pick up for a palate cleanser, I think it would be entertaining as well.

Directive Two is the most interesting sounding of the stories. I'm curious to see what you've got planned there.

I'd recommend against starting Lotus Eater before finishing Mente Materia. I think it would be too samey to have them both going at once.

Brightest Spark? idk, meh. I expect it would be good but I have no interest in Destiny.

I have no opinion on Nightmare as I have yet to read the preceding story.

I would like to put seven ballots for How to Date an Embassador in the voting box, please. One for each vote required to break the barrier causing your writer's block.

Going for Nightmare. Don't get me wrong we all probably want to see Lotus but I suggest you get rid of some of these plot bunnies first. That way there's more thinking space for Lotus.

I vote brightest spark!

Dunno if voting's still going on, but if so, I'd like to throw my hat in with Directive two.

Not too familiar with this "GATE" thing, but the premise is intriguing, and I can see plenty of opportunities for angst from both sides after a certain few soldiers in black and purple armor lift whatever it is the GATE humans use for a tank and throw it 50 feet with their minds.

and also i'm terribly invested in mente materia and i'm not sure i could handle a look at what happens if the aliens were to win due to a sudden case of squeamishness
