Oi, Logan, where's your new writing? (The sequel) · 12:04pm Oct 4th, 2016
Since my last blog on this topic, I have actually published something. Sadly for some of you, that something was Sunset's Sales Snag, which is officially the worst received story I have ever put out: a thumbscore of +15/-6 as I type this. I'm not particularly upset about that, because it isn't exactly one of my finest hours in ponyfic -- and hey, at least it's not +6/-15. I'd like to know whether I'm right in my assumption that at least some of the downvotes are because of its feeble ending (deliberate, but still feeble), but never mind.
Anyway, the more important point about SSS is that it has served its purpose of getting me moving again. I've written the odd flashfic since I wrote Like a Flower to the World (and do read that in preference to SSS!), but I needed to get a standalone story published again to kick-start my writing. And almost out of nowhere, I now have four stories on the go, at least two of which are very likely to end up being published. One, the racing-themed Dashfic, I mentioned briefly last time. The others are:
1) Finally, after I don't know how many years, I've got myself going on writing something about Fluttershy I've always wanted to touch on. It's not exactly original any more -- quite a few others have done similar things -- but it's important to me. The story will actually star Applejack and an OC, though, and probably be told from the latter's perspective.
2) A ludicrous short in which Rarity, having become enamoured of cricket after seeing it played during a visit to Canterlot, attempts to convince the others and to get a Ponyville team together. Conceived before "Buckball Season" appeared, incidentally.
3) An old-fashioned adventure story, of the sort that used to appear a lot in the early days but has become increasingly rare of late, partly because of canon Equestria's increasing fullness. I'm not planning anything terribly dark, just some "follow our intrepid band of heroes" stuff -- though who knows how it will morph and squirm in my hands?
I mentally changed the last word in the journal title to 'squeakwel' and now I want to die. D:
You should write 2 and keep Buckball Season in mind as you write it. Canon butting up against one's previous ideas can often lead to interesting interactions!

I'll be honest that I didn't "get" parts of SSS, but the ones I did made me guffaw. Perhaps my density is due to my lack of EQG watching and caffeine deficiency this morning, but I missed the punch line.
The down votes are probably due to the "sex" tag. Some readers are likely looking for at least some sloppy tonguing and may consider it false advertising. The story should instead bear the label "EI for Extreme Insinuation" or "M for Miscommunication."
4240993 I've edited it slightly since it was first published. Assuming you read the current version, the punchline is that "Dec" has spent all this time making insinuations that "Sunset Shimmer" sounds like a porn star name, when his own name is Mr Bucket. And thinking about how "buck" tends to be used in this fandom... Feeble, absolutely.
I'm always rather cautious about the Sex tag, and I was here as well. I do stress in the description that there's nothing actually explicit, but still. I suppose the Teen rating covers the thematic stuff, so probably it doesn't need it.

I got that: I'm not as dumb as I look. Alright, I am, but still!
And I got that too.
Still enjoyed it: Seldom do I actually laugh at these sorts of things, only groan.
4241660 Well, I'm not going to complain when someone enjoys one of my stories! I'm curious, though: any specific bits you didn't get?
