Star Wars Rebels Season 3 Premiere Impressions (Spoilers) · 1:31am Sep 25th, 2016

This is not a complete recap. This is just a quick run-down of my impressions and what season three is bringing to the table.

1. There seems to be a timeskip here. Ezra and Sabine have been redesigned again, reflecting their maturity and how they've become serious resistance fighters.

2. Kanan's grown one hell of a beard. He also seems to be searching for himself, having lost his way since he was blinded.

3. Ezra's been seduced by the Dark Side, and the opening act of the premiere demonstrates how his power in the Dark Side of the Force has grown to chilling effect. He's also become rather...bloodthirsty. He isn't too far gone yet, but what he's done is not likely to simply go away after the wake-up call he got in this premiere.

4. THRAWN. Holy SHIT Thrawn.

All of the above aside, it's business as usual for Rebels. The team raids Imperial installations for things to aid the Rebellion and get into hair-raising hip-deep shit at every turn.

I thought Ezra was a bit "meh" for a Darksider. We'll see what they come up with when they do the middle point of the force once they get the holocrons working in synch and Darth Maul into the mix again.

I'm a little curious as to how Maul will be involved later on in the season.

you forgot to mention the mysterious mother talzin magic maul and later kanan are possesd by in a newer trailer

4225514 I didn't forget to mention anything. This blog post was about the one-hour premiere, not the trailers.

4225525 oh ok but i whould expect even more lord of the rings references since dave filioni said he is a huge fan of tolkiens work and yes there were some references and all already which whould also mean its very likely that ahsoka returns at some point

The season 2 premier was definitely better. This felt more like a standard two parter. Not to say it wasn't good.

It's hard to call Thrawn a highlight since he only shows up two times, but he was still awesome!

My favorite (aside from Thrawn) was definitely [The] Bendu. I like the whole nuetrality in the Force angle and that it is only you that changes yourself, not an object. i.e. Money doesn't change you, your own desires do.
And what happened with the Kryknas! (I think that's what the spiders are called)

I liked seeing how Ezra changed and the iffy-ness of his mental state. He gettin snippy (or cross). And his new moves are cool; this is where I wish I had an extensive knowledge on lightsaber forms. That dark mind trick though. And he's got Han's gun! DL-44!

I really liked Governor Pryce, she totally understands Thrawn. I could almost imagine her filling in the role of Palleon from legends. And her comment to Konstantine was hilarious.
"I don't understand"
"I know you don't"

I've got high hopes for the season. Hopefully it follows clone wars in getting better as it progresses, last season already did that. It's supposed to lead up to Rogue One, so maybe we might even get a Saw Garrera cameo, or Cassian.
I can't wait to see young Wedge, more Thrawn, Vader's obligatory cameo, Ahsoka's fate, and especially more Maul (who I've started a crossover fic with, wink wink).

I think that Ezra's moves are a mix between Form IV (Ataru) because of the flexibility and Form VII (Juyo) because it's a form filed by anger (and it's regarded as a Sith Form)

As for the season, I agree. There just isn't as much as the horror of The Siege of Lothal to prove just how fucked

6 months.

And they've now lost the Phantom.

Ezra might as well be called Galen Marek/Starkiller and Kanan is turning into Rahm Kota, i like it
