New Mente Materia chapter up shortly, review of recent events, and future plans. (SPOILERS FOR MOST RECENT CHAPTER) · 9:17pm Jul 23rd, 2016
Afternoon folks!
Before you read this blog, STOP. Within the next 5 minutes or so, I'll be publishing a Mente Materia chapter titled 'Karma'. I strongly encourage everyone to read that first as this blog will be discussion the previous plot arc up to and including Karma. You have been warned...
SO! With that out of the way, there's a lot to go over with the previous few chapters: EXALT's base of operations was confirmed as being within Minon, and they were actively petitioning them to leave the alliance. The Toybox was found and (presumably) destroyed. Damocles and the Windigo were defeated, though we do not know at what cost to Cadance. Both Twilight and Alvar are learning what it means to be leaders, and Twilight, Matt and Firecracker get a bit of sweet revenge on Vide, though he escapes in the end.
Now, eagle-eyed folks might catch a very specific detail in the chapter Karma: That EXALT came into being because The Lady made a deal with the Elders to defend the Earth from a greater threat. There isn't much I can say without spoiling things, but I can tell you all that I have plans for what happens after Mente Materia. I know folks have been speculating on if I did or not for a while, but I'll go ahead and confirm that now. I also have two short stories planned, similar to Fortitude and Broken, that takes place after Mente but before the next major installment.
Before I wrap things up, I'd like to thank everyone who's stuck with me up until this point. Everything that has happened has been a part of my plan, and the past few chapters wrapped up a few of the more high profile threads that had folks worried.
I hope everyone stays tuned, as Mente Materia is entering the final plot arc!
Interesting, I look forward to what you have up your sleeve, especially concerning the reason EXALT made a deal with the Eldar, it gives me a Fable 3 vibe.

Serious kudos to you for seeing this project of yours through to completion. I've read my fare share of truly great stories that were never finished because of the author loosing interest. Best of luck with the final arc and future tales in this universe.
Ah, I was wondering when Menta Materia would run its course. It seemed to be approaching an end point. Interested to see where the last arc leads us and what the future stories hold for the universe :)
On another note, I thought you might appreciate this. I drew a thing inspired by Mente Materia.
I'm not an artist by any means, but felt like I really wanted to drew something from it. It's based off the stories, blogs, XCOM games and a bit of artistic interpretation.

I've got me a hunch that Exalt is gonna try and join the good guys now, what with little ol' Lady here cleaning up the Alphas specifically because they're more loyal to the Elders, and mentioning making a deal with the devil while XCOM won the friendship of angels.
I really hope you bring a full new chapter soon, I wanna know how Cadance is!

oh good, you're making a sequel and some bonus fics. honestly, with the momentum of the fic so far, I'm quite surprised that it's coming to an end because it feels like there's so much more to be seen.
So, when the Ethereals are defeated, Equestria's Oceans are going to begin to Bubble, yes?

Hot damn. Christmas came early this year.
Man, what a ride it's been! Can't wait for the closing arc boy-o, and everything that comes after it. Also, wrapping the Bureau into the lore was a stroke of genius. Most folks like to pretend it never existed, but I was personally a fan of the 60s setting and the overall art direction.
Another grand act is nearing the end with another planned for more. The world being made, so far, has opened up quite a few areas for story-telling with the amount of fresh characters and story-arcs inter-weaving it all.
I may have missed him from Stardust or Mente Materia, but I must say that I have a little longing to see Big Sky appear a little seeing how he was the Sky Ranger pilot getting troops around to where they were needed in XCOM. Sky Bolt's reappearance with knowledge on mechanized aviation had me thinking of the possibility in connecting it to him. Perhaps this little inventor had the run-in with Shen and Big Sky leading up to the point in designing The Hummingbird.
Just shows the potential stories that could be made based on this ever-expanding universe I guess.
Anyways, I wish you further good luck and inspiration towards your plans.

I still haven't given up hope that Lana is gone, I recently reread the whole series and reading her parts were very bitter sweet.

Eventually she will be back or at least take the time to repay Twilight for all her kindness, kinda like having a guardian angel watching over her
