Fear and Pony at the RNC · 8:50pm Jul 19th, 2016

Guys. Guys.

You have to see this.

You have to see this.

So, Trump’s wife probably plagiarized Michele Obama. In her defense, an RNC staffer tried to argue those lines were so generic they could have come from anywhere, and in his bumbling, he cites a line from My Little Pony.

Thing is, not only is the line obviously different, but it’s not conveying remotely the same meaning.

“Hold on, it’s getting better,” said Spicer. “Melania Trump said, ‘The strength of your dreams and your willingness to work for them.’ Twilight Sparkle from ‘My Little Pony’ said, ‘This is your dream, anything you can do in your dreams.”

That line? It’s from Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?. She is saying that while literally inside of someone's dream. She is talking about what you can literally do inside of a literal dream.

That is so far outside of the context he tried to use it in… I can’t stop being amazed.

The world really has gone insane.

Goodnight everypony. I think we’re all done for the day.

We live in the strangest of all possible worlds.

Gottfried Leibniz was not prepared for this.

4101507 Strange, wonderful, occasionally terrifying. I'm not sure which of those to categorize this under, really.

His ponysona would be Donkey Rump, salesdonkey extraordinare.

Real colorful personality. Can be a bit of ass though.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery....however Twilight Sparkle does not approve copying another's work.

I wish the citation from Twilight was spot on instead of a random one, though. Then we would know that some high-profile RNC people are true fans of MLP, too... :pinkiegasp:

I actually saw this on TV, as it happened, because I happened to be within earshot of a TV while eating lunch. Out of nowhere I hear "Twilight Sparkle from My Little Pony said..." and I look to see who's talking and it's some Trump campaign staffer!?

I really don't know why everyone is fixated on the missing context of it having been said in a literal dream. What amazed me was that it was spot on, verbatim. He knew that line, he knew Twilight's name and said it correctly. News reports on this have misattributed and mixed up all the details, as usual, from using fanart in articles to referring to Twilight as "Sparkle Twilight", but the source? Spicer, in an off hand comment about plagiarism, 100% accurately quoted and cited a line from FiM. Someone knows his ponies. Or can accurately remember the content of a google search. Funny in context. You'd think he would be able to accurately recall Michelle Obama's speech.

It's honestly the whole package. Him trying and failing to prove those lines could have come from anywhere. Him completely misreading the line. The degree of utter fail in the misreading. The laziness that fail reveals in his own attempts at defense. The pure surreality of the RNC bringing up MLP as part of a Trump scandal.

Just... everything.

Oh'baaaah'ma, a sheep who teaches law at Canterlot University and helps out with underprivileged earth pony youths who ultimately wants to join Celestia's cabinet and help people.

4103184 Added value: Sean Spicer is (almost) an anagram of 'A Princess'. :trollestia:

But it makes perfect sense, once you know reality is socially constructed.
