    Amaranth and the Mountain update

So last night I completed transcribing the first draft of Amaranth and the Mountain. For those of you who remember, about 1/3 of the way through the book I started doing all my writing by hand, which is a time consuming method for writing but one that I felt was well worth it. Now that it's complete, I have some actual facts and figures for you guys: work on the first chapter began on March 23rd

    Amaranth and the Mountain (Preview)

Now that Planet Hell is done, a lot of you have been wondering what's next and when the next entry in the cycle of Eternal Return will come out. To answer those questions, for now I'm working on drafting the final parts of a work of original fiction I'm calling Amaranth and the Mountain, and I won't be thinking much about a return to fan fiction until I at least see the draft done.

Planet Hell: a More Detailed Update · 5:30pm Jul 15th, 2016

"The Fall" by Pieceepone

I wanted to give a more detailed update to what exactly was going on with Planet Hell and what I've been up to, and to give you guys an overall idea of what my overall process has been. Long story short, with the exception of the last month or so, I haven't really been working on Planet Hell save for a few scattered attempts at editing and revising some particularly poorly done scenes. Most of my time and creative energy has been going toward completing a first draft of some original fiction, which for now I'll refer to as Amaranth and the Mountain.

As emotionally taxing and confronting work on Planet Hell has usually been, Amaranth and the Mountain has proved to already be the most challenging project I have ever attempted to tackle, and I haven't even completed a first draft of it yet! So what has that to do with the September 9th deadline? I guess it's kinda like this: for a long time I was aware of the problems that most of my editors have pointed out, in the story overall and chapter-to-chapter, but I didn't exactly have a really good idea of how to change them for the better. So I took a break to work on Amaranth and when I came back recently, well, I guess grappling with all those challenges it presented paid off because a lot of solutions to Planet Hell just became clear to me.

That said, Planet Hell will by no means be perfect, even with all the changes and edits and revisions. But I think I can get it to a point I could be happy with so I'm going to give this a try.

I still haven't decided whether or not I want to leave Planet Hell open and building toward future sequels (or at least the possibility thereof), or if I want take the opportunity to close the series more properly. Either way though, it's good to take a break but my creativity is calling me toward Amaranth and the Mountain and it's been almost painful to put it on hold; it'd I don't have any intention of writing more horse words after this. Even if I did, Amaranth would still come first and it might be years before it's actually in final draft state.

So here's to all of you; one final fan fic.

Edit: in case I wasn't super clear, yes, Planet Hell will still resuming updating on September 9th.

Well, if you have no real likelihood of finishing the series past this I'd say close it out, but with how much has been built up, be really hard to do that in a way that doesn't kind of feel rushed given we'd only have seen three of the Bearers, and only a start at seeing just what the larger story overall is.

Welp. We're fucked.

Lack of Solo's creativity has serious adverse side effects on one's mental health.

It still wonderful to hear that you intend to finish Planet Hell. Even if it will take another year.
Also regarding original fiction - please let us know when you publish it.
I am sure a lot of your followers will be happy to buy digital copy.
At least I would.

It won't take me another year to finish Planet Hell, it's still coming out on September 9th. I just won't be doing more fanfic after.
And yeah, I'll talk more about "Amaranth" in the future and I can even leave a preview of a chapter or two once "Planet Hell" is done updating.

Okay, I'll shift it higher in the reading priority list... give moar...

Yay for the future update/s! Your stories are amazing and exactly the kind that hits all the soft and tingly spots inside my brain! There needs to be more high-quality sci-fi and the the idea of a magic world having magic stripped away and replaced by technology only to later become re-acquainted with magic is simply GENIUS!

Loving the pic too, and RD makes it even better! There is simply something special about this world and the role magic plays in it. I believe making what we come to see as magical creatures view magic just as humans would view it brings out some hidden childish wonder and allows to project and associate yourself with the magic-devoid ponies that lost their way... and yet something beautiful, divine and... magical still exists even in that seemingly bleak world of theirs. And even despite all the amazing technology you wish we could have, you still can't stop but wonder and dream that maybe something magical exists in our world too and it's not just high-tech and us. It makes even a person like me who generally scoffs and dislikes magic in favor of sci-fi and technology experience the awe like they haven't felt before... It is truly something amazing and I think I've found my new phone wallpaper :P
